Pizzaface – Pizza Cafe at Ridgewood Condo (Open to Public)

With a name like Pizzaface, this is one place that we could not resist checking out. Pizzaface Ridgewood Close is a tiny pizza place in a small cluster of shops at the end of the the quiet lane in the Mount Sinai residential area. It is part of the Ridgewood Condominium (residents have direct access from their pool via security card access), but there is also a gate that gives access to outside people like us from the road.

This is the view of Ridgewood Condo from outside Pizzaface. It is a small cafe in a large development that was built in 1981, making it one of the oldest condominium projects in Singapore. But it looks very well designed and the tropical resort feel of the pool area can be felt just by looking from the outside. According to PropertyGuru, there are 464 residential units. With only a few seats indoors and outdoors, I believe most of the pizzas go out as takeaways, which was also our intention.

Pizzaface Ridgewood Menu

Here are pictures of the menu. Pizzas of various flavours take up most of the menu. Several types of pasta and some salads and sides complete the picture. We decided on calamari rings ($13) and a ham and spinach pizza ($25).

The pizza did not travel well. Even though the journey back was short – around 20 minutes, the pizza arrived with a soggy base. It was a standard sized pizza of around 30 cm diameter. We wished that there was more of the spinach, onion and ham topping. The spinach pieces shrank during cooking and the result was that they were not present over every slice. Overall the taste of the Pizzaface pizza was ok but not memorable.

Pizzaface Ridgewood review

As for the calamari, we found the batter around the squid rings were rather thick, and had some lumps that were harder than usual.

There are 2 Pizzaface outlets in Singapore. It is possible to call in to order in advance to save on waiting time. I think the instructions to reheat the pizza is a good idea even when the pizza is still relatively fresh, especially to avoid the soggy base.
