Fireplace by Bedrock at One Holland Village

Fireplace by Bedrock is a branch of famous steakhouse Bedrock Bar & Grill at Orchard Road. It is located at level 3 of One Holland Village, steps away from sister restaurant Ginkyo by Kinki. The spacious patio and a classy interior attracted us to go in for lunch on a hot Singapore afternoon.

A Beautiful Restaurant at One Holland Village

Similar to the Bedrock Grill, an open food preparation area appears soon after we enter. Seeing fresh produce and the chefs at work is a way to work up our appetite.

Walking deeper into the restaurant, the interior decor looked even better. Together with Ginkyo, these are two of the most beautiful restaurants at One Holland V.

Fireplace by Bedrock Menu

Compared to the main Bedrock Grill restauramt, the Fireplace by Bedrock menu looks limited. There is also a set lunch menu available. The price of the set lunch depends on the choice of main course. We decided to try the most affordable one – barramundi fillet ($34++) and also an item from the a la carte lunch menu.

Set Lunch at One Holland V

In addition to the choice of main course, there were also options available for appetiser and dessert. Our selection for set lunch was squid tentacle for appetiser, barramundi as main course and chocolate coffee cake for dessert. Coffee was also served as part of the set lunch

The squid tentacle was coated with a pesto sauce and tasted great. It was tiny. But it was clearly our fault, not the restaurant’s. The menu stated “squid tentacle” and we had proceeded to order it. How big can a squid tentacle be right? Caveat Emptor!

Our set lunch’s main course was more predictable. The barramundi fillet was a decent size and had a good taste. Likewise, for the chocolate coffee cake. In fact it may have been the best dishes of the set lunch.

In addition to the set lunch at Fireplace by Bedrock at One Holland Village, we also tried an item from the a la carte menu – a Fireplace Ultimate Burger ($28++). With a name like that we had high expectations of this dish. This arrived in a bright red bun described as a “beetroot bun”. Apart from the colour, it tasted (to us) like an ordinary bun. The meat patty was also ordinary. We are not likely to order this dish on a future visit.
