Coconut Club New Bahru is a new branch of the restaurant that made nasi lemak glamorous. This outlet in River Valley is their third one in Singapore, joining the other two at Beach Road (flagship) and Joo Chiat.

Kelab Kelapa 椰子俱樂部 New Bahru

This new Coconut Club outlet is conveniently situated on the ground floor of the big block. It enjoys a very prime location next to the main driveway sheltered by the beautiful arches. This is also where the NB shuttle bus stop is located. We have the details of the shuttle bus stops and time-table at the end of this post.

Nasi Lemak Restaurant at New Bahru

The restaurant has a laid back tropical resort look. However on a hot Singapore afternoon, it was too realistically tropical for us (and many others). The indoor area was full. Only the less popular outdoor seats were available.

No choice, so we took the only seats available in the air-conditioned room – at the bar counter. The bartender was a jovial, friendly chap. He took our orders and a bottle of plain water and two glasses were promptly plonked in front of us soon after we were seated.

Coconut Club New Bahru Menu
Here are some screenshots of the CC New Bahru menu. Being perched on bar stools we decided to go for the Signature Nasi Lemak one-plate meals. These nasi lemak dishes come with a serving of coconut rice, fried egg, anchovies, peanuts, cucumber and sambal. We chose the Classic ($15) which has a pan-fried Indian mackerel stuffed with sambal titek and a Signature Ayam Goreng Berempah ($21 Spiced fried organic chicken leg with crispy rempah crumbs).

Nasi Lemak Lunch
The dishes were served quite quickly. Looking back at our post on our 2019 visit to the Coconut Club outlet at Ann Siang Road, the price of Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng Berempah was $12.80 and that was already considered expensive at that time. The dish still looks similar although we could not agree on whether the size of chicken was larger then.

The more expensive nasi lemak with chicken was actually a better dish. The chicken was more flavourful and there was more meat

The side ingredients were similar but the mackerel one has a rather skinny fish (although this fish would be large when compared to the ikan kunning that they used to serve with traditional nasi lemak).

The taste was similar to how we remember Coconut Club nasi lemak to be – dry fluffy rice with a gentle coconut aroma. An adequate serving of peanuts and ikan bilis which were crisp and not too hard. The sambal was still slightly sweet and not very spicy.
Shuttle Bus at New Bahru
The New Bahru shuttle bus service stops at Orchard Gateway and Fort Canning MRT. A bus departs from NB at 40 minute intervals. This is the time table as at March 2025.
