Cedele Kitchen Star Vista : A Healthy Lunch

Cedele Kitchen Star Vista is one of a few original stores that has remained at the Buona Vista shopping mall since its opening in 2012. Its accessible location on level one, nice big bright windows and interesting menu make it quite an attractive cafe that has held its ground amidst the many newcomers. We went there recently for a healthy lunch.

All day Dining Cafe at Star Vista

We were there before lunch time and enjoyed the quietness of the cafe. Cedele Kitchen Star Vista is very popular with the hordes of office workers in the One North area. Lunch time is probably the busiest period. The bright spacious layout may be another reason for its popularity. The all-day dining hours of 10:00 am to 09:30 pm gave us a lot of flexibility to time our visit to avoid peak hours.

A few years ago, the cafe underwent renovations that enlarged the space and refreshed its look. It is much nicer now compared to the original. You can compare its current looks with its original decor in our 2015 post: Our late night breakfast at Star Vista.

Beside the dining area is a retail section offering pantry items and products from its bakery. The croissants and cranberry buns are quite nice.

Here are pictures of the Cedele menu, It has the usual all day breakfast items as well as pasta and burgers. The mains section is quite extensive for a cafe with various types of proteins available. We like the grills and greens section which serve up large portions of salads. From this section we selected the chicken walnut salad ($20),

We noticed some new additions – grain bowls that were not in the regular menu and decided to try the Miso Mirin Salmon.

Our Healthy Lunch at Cedele

The portion size of the miso salmon was quite small, particularly if compared to the chicken salad. But it was packed with flavourful items. The salmon was encrusted with sesame seeds. Mushrooms and other condiments added to the taste of the fish and grains and so we did not really use much of the miso mirin sauce.

Our other dish of chicken salmon was a substantial portion of both salad and grilled chicken. It was not an attractive dish with the chicken simply placed over the untidy forest of leaves. But there were a lot of vegetables and the chicken was moist and nicely cooked with some lightly crisp surfaces. The two dishes worked well together and this one compensated for the low vegetable count in the salmon dish. I think they provided sufficient protein and vegetables for our diet quota of the day.
