Jungsik Seoul is a two Michelin star restaurant in the Seoul Michelin guide. It was also the best restaurant that we had tried on our recent visit to the South Korean capital city.

Two Michelin Star Restaurant in Cheongdam-dong Seoul
Cheongdam-dong is an affluent area in Gangnam, Seoul. High-end shopping and restaurants can be found in this location, including the two Michelin star Kwonsooksoo that we wrote about earlier. Jungsik Seoul is also here. We were impressed to see the Jungsik restaurant name displayed prominently on the exterior of the building.

The restaurant is helmed by Chef Yim Jung-sik who has restaurants in Seoul and New York. Jungsik New York received its third Michelin star in 2013. It seems that this chef is very highly regarded. The Michelin Guide write-up about him describes him as a pioneer in modern Korean fine dining. According to the article, chef Yim’s culinary journey began in Maldo, a small island in the West Sea of Korea. Yim was on this remote island serving in the marines. There he was provided with a generous food budget which allowed him to experiment and work creatively. The rest as they say is history.

Jungsik Seoul restaurant is a posh restaurant which has comfortable plush seats and a beautiful decor. We also found the friendly service to be as polished as the shiny surfaces.

Jungsik Seoul Menu 2025
Only one menu was available for lunch – the Signature menu priced at KRW 200,000 person. The only decision to be made were regarding drinks and whether to add-on any supplementary food items. We decided to try the gimbap (KRW 28,000) that Jungsik is known for.

Wine List at Jungsik
As for drinks, there was a selection of wines to choose from. Our choice was a bottle of sparkling wine from the Loire Valley, France. 2019 Domaine de Montgilet Crémant Brut (KRW 100,000).

Signature Lunch 2025
Lunch started with a cute collection of bite sized-snacks. I cannot remember what they were, only that they were each unique and very flavourful.

Next was some raw fish topped with caviar. A very fresh and luxurious dish.

Continuing with the expensive seafood theme was the abalone with a creamy sauce. The abalone was expertly cooked till soft yet springy. It could be eaten effortlessly.

Jungsik Seoul Gimbap
The KRW 28,000 gimbap was the only extra item we could afford and we were glad we ordered it. It was served midway through the meal. The informality of this item with the wooden clothes peg provided a nice break from the formality to the other dishes.

Main Course

The highlight of the main courses was the item described as “Ok Dom” in the menu, which is a type of fish – Jeju Red Tilefish (according to Google AI). Very clean tasting and delicious.

Dessert

For dessert, there was a choice of two types. Dolharubang (picture above) was the more interesting one. It is said to be inspired by the volcanic stone statues of Jeju Island. The statue had a creamy core. The other dessert was NY-Seoul (picture below). This was a more predictable dessert but enjoyable nonetheless thanks to the chocolate flavours.
