Spicy Asian food at Orchard Road options are available at Como Cuisine. This is a restaurant at posh Orchard Road hotel – COMO Metropolitan Singapore. It is located at Bideford Road (opposite Paragon Orchard). Here are some of the interesting dishes we tried over a few visits.

Como Cuisine Menu

The Como Cuisine menu is not very extensive, but contains enough variety for us to make repeat visits. In addition to this menu they also have a COMO Shambhala Kitchen menu which has healthy food options such as grilled wild Scottish salmon (picture above). This is the kind of food we would naturally associate with COMO – known for their health and wellness emphasis.

In between healthy food dishes we occasionally stray into the realm of strongly flavoured dishes. This is also an area where this restaurant is good at. Here are some suggestions for spicy Asian food at Orchard Road.
THALI PLATTER

This dish ($45) is available from Monday to Friday only. Saffron rice accompanied by a range of side dishes is a most interesting way to take a break from healthy grilled /steamed fish items. Masala lamb kebab, fish curry, chicken makhani, moong dal, kachumbari, paratha, poppadum, raita and chutney make up a feast on one tray.

NASI GORENG
The common nasi goreng is given a boost with lots of wok-fried chicken and vegetables. Topped up with a sunny-side up egg, the Como nasi goreng ($28) is full of flavours. The default version is quite spicy so those who prefer less spicy should ask for it to be toned down.

A side of sautรฉed brocollini ($14) is always welcome in between the spicy dishes.

Spicy Asian Food at Orchard Road – Chicken Briyani
Another example of spicy Asian food to try at Orchard Road is the nasi briyani. At Como Cuisine, there is a choice of lobster, chicken or vegetables to go with the saffron rice. ($55/35/30 respectively). This is a picture of the chicken briyani, served with pomegranate, cucumber raita, guava salad and poppadum. The aroma of this dish arrives at the table before the food. Be warned – the default dish is already spicy.

Snapper Curry
Fish curry is a nice change from the usual chicken curry. Como Cuisine’s snapper curry ($34) has a generous amount of fish cooked with coconut, tomato, tamarind and okra. It is accommpanied by a bowl of fluffy saffron rice. Yum!

Dessert
There are only four kinds of dessert on the menu. The most suitable one to cool off after a round of hot food is the soft serve swirl sundae ($14). Crushed peanuts, young coconut jelly, salted caramel and chocolate pops combine to provide a sweet end to a lunch of spicy Asian food at Orchard Road in a lovely restaurant setting.
