The new Plain Vanilla Holland Village cafe is described as a pop-up stand from October 2025 to February 2026. It might be rough at the edges but it looked very permanent to us. In fact it looks like a regular cafe and fits right in with the Holland V landscape.

Former Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao Location
Standing on the ground floor of the building at the corner of Holland Avenue and Lorong Liput, the cafe enjoys a central location in Holland Village. This building used to house a Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao restaurant. The short five-month Plain Vanilla pop-up at Holland V is a homecoming for the popular cake shop which started its journey 13 years ago in this area. They have since grown to eight other outlets all over Singapore including Tiong Bahru, East Coast, Ion Orchard and Upper Thomson.

A wonderful display of cupcakes and other cakes and bakes is a powerful way to tempt innocent passers-by to suspend their diet for the day.

The outer part of the cafe is naturally ventilated while an inner dining section and the food preparation areas are air-conditioned.

Plain Vanilla Holland Village Menu
Here are pictures of some pages from the Plain Vanilla Holland V pop-up menu. It contains the brunch and usual cafe classics like salads and pasta dishes. But they are embellished in PV style. Don’t forget their dessert selection which can be selected from the online menu or by looking at the food display. Coffee is made with beans from Allpress Coffee.

Brunch at Holland Village
We selected one item from the “bigger plates” section of the menu. The chicken pesto orecchiette ($24, picture below). This orecchiette and chicken breast pasta dish was bursting with flavours from sundried tomato and basil pesto, olives, pine nuts and shavings of parmigiano reggiano. We would have preferred lighter flavours of cheese but it was still enjoyable and the overall taste was unique.

From the “croissant burgers” section we selected a Portobello Melt ($17, picture below). This croissant burger was made with a herb-roasted portobello steak, kale egg white omelette, balsamic glaze, provolone, and
garlic aioli. This vegetarian dish was light and tasty and contained only 557kcal (according to the menu). This is the best item of the day.

To complete our meal, we had a Dark Chocolate Ganache cupcake ($4.90), black coffee and cappuccino made with Allpress Espresso’s BM Organic blend. The cupcake had a light chocolate flavour and was topped with a cap of crispy chocolate bits. We had high expectations for the dessert and coffee. But it was the main food section that impressed us the most on this visit.
