Between bouts of festive indulgent feasting, PaperBakes is a welcome destination for customisable, wholesome meals. This quick-service concept focuses on a cooking method that wraps proteins and vegetables in parchment paper before baking, a technique that retains moisture and natural flavours whilst reducing the need for added fats.

PaperBakes in Plaza Singapura
PaperBakes started business in Singapore targeting the office crowd with outlets in Asia Square Food Garden and Raffles City. The Plaza Singapura outlet opened in the middle of last year.

Occupying a compact space in Plaza Singapura, PaperBakes is a casual, self-service diner that looks a typical fast food restaurant in Singapore. The interior is brightly lit and features clean lines and natural materials.
The service counter features glass display panels, allowing diners to see the food available in trays. Tables line the opposite wall. The layout efficiently caters to both dine-in guests and those collecting takeaways.
Orders can be placed via digital kiosks or by scanning a QR code at the table.

PaperBakes primarily offers chicken, fish, and vegetarian meals, allowing diners to customise their orders by selecting a protein, base, toppings, and sauce. The food can be served as a tortilla wrap or in a bento tray. The Craft Meal Bento featuring boneless chicken thigh starts from $11.80.

Lunch for the Heath Conscious
We ordered a Craft Meal Bento with boneless chicken thigh ($11.80) and a Gourmet Salad also with chicken thigh ($12.80) as well as soy bean drink ($3) and a matcha soy pudding ($3.50).

The wait for the food was about five minutes. The food, along with condiments and sauces, was served in disposable containers.

Our Craft Meal Bento comprised parchment-baked boneless chicken thigh, herb roasted potatoes cubes, char baked vegetables and jasmine rice.

The boneless chicken thigh was tender and juicy, with flesh that pulled apart easily easily with minimal resistance. The herb marinade provided a subtle background flavour. It reminded us of traditional salt-baked chicken. The chicken was delicious and enjoyable. The absence of bones also made it convenient to eat.

Our Gourmet Salad was a healthier alternative to the bento meal, with less carbohydrates. We also opted for boneless chicken thigh to pair with the fresh salad.



The soy bean drink was lightly sweetened compared with versions found at hawker centres or food courts. The soy matcha dessert had earthy notes without heavy sweetening. For those monitoring sugar intake, these items offer options that feel less indulgent.

Wholesome, guilt-free meal
PaperBakesโ customisable format allows patrons to adjust portions and ingredient combinations to suit their preferences. The parchment-baked chicken we tried was tender and full of flavour. For those seeking an alternative to conventional fast food or typical food court dishes, which may lack nutritional balance, the restaurant offers a viable option. Its cooking methods and choice of ingredients make it possible to enjoy a satisfying meal without feeling overly indulgent. For anyone seeking a wholesome, guilt-free bite, PaperBakes is worth a visit.
