Coffee Dumbo Taipei ็ปๆณขๅๅก is a cute cafe at the bustling Chifeng Street in the Datong District of Taipei. Hip cafes, art museums and specialty restaurants are some of the attractions in this area. Being within walking distance from Okura Prestige Hotel where we just had a tempura lunch was another incentive for us to visit this place.

Bookstore, Museum and Cafes in Taipei
Our leisurely stroll from Okura Hotel to Coffee Dumbo gave us a chance to admire some modern streetscape (picture below). Hidden underground is the Eslite R79 Store ่ช ๅๆธๅบ R79 in the Zhongshan Underground Book Street which spans a length of 270 metres.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei is also in this vicinity. It is housed in a former school building. The exhibits are modern and avant-garde. It is not a large facility and our walkabout took less than an hour to complete.

Many old buildings line the side of Chifeng Street. Some still carry on the old trades but many have been converted to new shops and cafes such as Dumbo.

Coffee Dumbo Taipei

With so many cafes to choose from, we decided to have coffee at Dumbo mainly because of its wonderfully retro decor. Its high Google review rating of 4.6 was also a factor. Once we were inside we were wowed by the retro furniture and hifi stereo set that played top hits from the 80s.

The indoor dining area is small. Quite a few customers bought take away drinks to be enjoyed in the public area outside. We were very lucky when we visited and managed to snag seats at the bar counter. This gave us a good view of the coffee preparations. The music was not very loud and sounded best from where we sat.

Coffee Dumbo Taipei Menu

Here are pictures of the Dumbo Coffee Menu. Espresso drinks start from NT$120 while hand drip coffees start from NT160. More expensive special blends of coffee were also available at NT$ 220. They were mainly fruit-based such as passion fruit blend and fruit platter – grape.

Our Coffee Break at Dumbo Taipei

We tried a hand drip coffee and a cappuccino at Coffee Dumbo Taipei. The coffee culture in Taipei seems to be strong and the coffee here was as good as those in other decent coffee places. What made this place memorable was the atmosphere and vibes. Using an old computer diskette as a coaster for the coffee was another cheeky highlight to the fun experience.
