Meadesmoore Steakhouse is a small restaurant in the Singapore CBD area. It is said to be one of the best steakhouses in Singapore. The good reviews we read including the commendable overall Google review rating of 4.6/5 prodded us to have dinner in this cosy shophouse near the Telok Ayer MRT station.

Steakhouse at Telok Ayer
On its website, Meadesmoore is described as “…a modern steakhouse that specialises in unusual cuts of beef and other meats, sourced from a network of trusted award-winning premium small producers.” Arriving at the restaurant on the second level of a shophouse, it looked like a traditional steakhouse with a serious dark interior. It made us recall our recent visit to Le Clos which also has a dim interior in the evening. However, we thought that Le Clos had managed to balance the darkness with some bright spots to add sparkle to the otherwise sombre atmosphere.

Meadesmoore Steakhouse Menu
Here are pictures of the Meadesmoore Steakhouse Menu and a page from the wine list. As anticipated, steak items dominate the menu but there are a few non-beef items as well such as turbot fish, lamb and pork chop.

Starters and Side Dish

Dinner started with bread and butter which were good but not complimentary. These are pictures of the sourdough bread ($10, picture above) and uni and kelp butter ($8, picture below).

We also tried the chicharrones ($16). These were, I believe, deep-fried pork cracklings accompanied by salsa and guindilla peppers. It was an interesting snack that we have not tried before. While waiting for the meat items to be ready we munched on the signature mac and cheese ($24). This was the most delicious dish so far at this dinner.

Meadesmoore Steakhouse Dinner – Mains

We tried two types of steak at Meadesmoore. The grass-fed ribeye from Tasmania Australia (picture above – 300g, $88) and the N34 Garnet F1 Wagyu striploin from Hokkaido Japan (picture below, 400g $180). Both of them were good steaks and prepared well – resulting in a smoky crust. I thought that the wagyu felt more tender than the ribeye. But it was marginal – I probably cannot tell them apart in a blind tasting. On a future trip, we would probably just pick the ribeye, which was already pretty good and save some money.

Unexpectedly, the star of the day was the pork chop from Australia (350g, $58). This was well-cooked yet remained moist in the middle. Like the steaks, the surface was nicely seared. It was one of the best pieces of pork we had tried in recent times. It was also the best value for money item of the evening at this restaurant.
