Five Guys Ion Orchard has closed. It was the place we used to go for burgers when we were in Orchard Road. It was not as crowded as some of the usual fast food places. Some say the burgers were expensive, some may not like the loud music. But we still liked the place because it gave us good vibes.

Burgers and Fries Since 1986
According to the Five Guys website, Five Guys started in 1986. It is said that the mother of the founder told him โIf you can give a good haircut or if you can serve a good drink at a bar or if you can serve a good hamburger, you can always make money in America.โ The rest is, as they say, history.

Memories of Five Guys Ion Orchard (Closed on 6 September 2026)
In 2021 Five Guys opened their first Singapore outlet at Plaza Singapura. Five Guys Ion Orchard was their second outlet. It was located on level B3 of the mall. The last time we wrote about this outlet was our post in 2024. According to an article in 8days, the outlet closed on 6 September 2026, leaving just one remaining outlet in Singapore – Plaza Singapura. We had visited the store not long before 6 September. Here are pictures from that last visit.

The hamburger and cheeseburger prices were $16.50 and $18.50 respectively. Although all toppings are free, the prices are considered to be high.

There were complimentary peanuts. It was there for the taking. We like the trust model at Five Guys.

Cool Burger Joint at Ion Orchard
We have not been to any actual Five Guys outlet in America. But from the photos we have seen, they all look roughly the same. The outlet at Ion Orchard looked like a snippet of America had been re-created in Singapore.

The kitchen looked neat and minimalist. The dining area had the uniform white and red colour scheme and heavy wooden chairs.

The lights were bright and the music was loud. I assume it was the same in America even though this could not be seen from photos. The songs are mixed. We recognise the popular ones from Elton John, Lenny Kravitz, Adele, Bon Jovi etc. Five Guys even have a Spotify playlist – Five Guys All The Way.

The nicest seats were those tucked at one end of the Ion restaurant. This picture looks like it could have been taken anywhere else in the world where there is a Five Guys outlet.

They also tell you the source of the day’s potatoes.

The customers’ artwork on the notice board in 2026 seemed to have increased since 2024.

Peanuts and Burger
On this visit, it was more of a snack stop than a meal. This was the bag of peanuts we ate while waiting for the burger to be prepared.

This time we ate a hamburger ($16.50).

As usual, we asked for the burger to be cut in half. It was too much for one person and was also easier to handle in two parts.

This is the basic hamburger which comes with two patties as standard. If we were hungrier we could opt for an additional beef patty at with a small additional payment ( I think it was $2.50).

This is what our burger looked like with almost all the toppings and one sauce.

This was the last stop of our visit. The disposal bin at Five Guys Ion Orchard.
