Wine Connection Bistro HillV2 is one of the larger restaurants at this suburban mall along Hillview Road in the Bukit Timah area. It is more popular in the evenings when working folks in the area congregate for some food and wine. In the day time, it is relatively quiet. A couple of lunchtime set lunch menus make it more attractive to dine here in the afternoon. There is also the attached Wine Connection wine shop which certainly makes wine selection more interesting than browsing through a wine list.
Today’s story is about our lunch at Upper Bukit Timah Italian restaurant iO Osteria. It is an attractive restaurant in the small suburban mall known as HillV2. This Hillview mall has been in operation for about four years. Some of the early retail outlets have come and gone. A handful of restaurants have been there since the beginning and continue to enjoy a strong following. iO Osteria is one of them. There are not many good restaurants in this area to cater to the residents in Hillview and this Upper Bukit Timah Italian restaurant certainly makes dining out more interesting.
Looking for a nice simple place for a meal of Singapore? If local dishes like laksa and zi char suits your taste, then the New Teck Kee Chicken Rice restaurant in Rail Mall might be your kind of place. Chicken rice is their speciality but the restaurant serves a wider range of food than its name suggests. From basic zi char favourites like stir fry vegetables, shrimp rolls to Thai chicken feet. Free parking provides an added incentive to visit.
Since the HillV2 Mall in Hillview opened in 2014, there had been some changes in the tenants. Jiak Modern Tze Char is one of the newer restaurants there. It opened around early 2017 and took over the space formerly occupied by Padang Gourmet. According to the description on their menu, “Jiak is a family friendly Halal Chinese restaurant that serves authentic and traditional tze char dishes throughout the day”. We stopped by to ‘jiak’ lunch recently.
Hillion Mall is a new shopping mall in Bukit Panjang in the West of Singapore. Together with the Hillion Residences condominium that sits on top of the mall, the project is integrated with the Bukit Panjang bus interchange and LRT and MRT stations. According to the website of Sim Lian Group who is the developer of the project, the mall has 240,000 sq ft of gross floor area and more than 100 retail shops spread over 4 levels. We don’t like to shop but we love to eat, so what we were really interested in is what to eat at Hillion Mall. We took a quick tour and compiled a list of the Hillion Mall Food Places and Restaurants. This is not a complete list as there could be some that we missed out – we suggest you refer to the official tenant directory at Hillion Mall for a full list of shops and restaurants.
