Here are ten of the best Scotts Road restaurants that we have tried. Just off the more famous Orchard Road, Scotts Road eateries tend to be quieter and are sometimes overlooked. We start our list of Scotts Road restaurants from the Orchard MRT end of Scotts Road and proceed to the Newton MRT end.
Gordon Grill is a steakhouse at the Goodwood Park Hotel Singapore known for its Continental cuisine. It is an evergreen restaurant, established in 1963 but we have never been there. We thought that its $58++ lunch set meals looked reasonable and decided it was time to go.
We tried a chicken rice takeaway lunch from the Wee Nam Kee United Square. WNK had launched an island-wide delivery service recently. This makes it easy for anyone to enjoy their famous chicken rice without leaving home. There is also an option of a pick up from the United Square outlet, which was what we did.
It has been a while since we last ate at Chui Huay Lim Singapore, the Teochew Restaurant near Newton Circus. In part because there are more Teochew restaurant options that opened in the past few years. Perhaps because it is situated slightly out of the usual dining places. A case of out of sight and out of mind.
Buffet in a hotel in Singapore need not necessarily mean crowded dining space and a less than genteel rush for the trays of oysters and sashimi. The Dining Room at Sheraton Towers offers a delectable international buffet spread in a spacious dining area with views of cascading waterfalls, rock pools and verdant greenery. When we visited The Dining Room on a weekday evening, the place could even be said to be serene and we felt like we were eating in a proper 5 star hotel restaurant and not like in a cafeteria where we would have to wait in line for food.
