Crystal Jade Kitchen Westgate is probably the Chinese restaurant in the Jurong East area that we have frequented the most. Directly linked by walkways to the Jurong East MRT station and also the Ng Teng Fong Hospital, it is often the Chinese restaurant that comes to mind when we have things to attend to in the area. For a restaurant in the suburbs, it looks rather grand and we have seen birthdays and business lunches being hosted there. Here is a compilation of some of the things we ate at Crystal Jade Westgate during a couple of recent lunches.Continue reading →
Faced with the wide range of food options near the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, we settled for lunch at Kogane Yama, a simple and nice Japanese restaurant in Jem shopping mall. It is located on the ground floor and is easily accessible from the elevated walkway from the NTFGH and from Jurong East MRT station and Westgate next door.
Paul Westgate is the Jurong East outlet of Paul bakery and cafe. This ground floor cafe one of the better looking eateries at the Westgate mall and has a distinct French cafe look. They seem to have made some changes to their decor and replaced their cushy chairs with more practical wooden ones, but the place has remained largely the same. On weekdays, they make it more enticing to dine there with a dinner promotion of a 40% discount on selected dishes and a $15.80 all day set menu.
It was hard to figure out what to make of a new restaurant that recently opened at Westgate Mall in Jurong East. The name of the restaurant is “NY Night Market”. There are large Korean words on the signboard with a picture of a yellow cab which New York City is famous for. The interior was dim, we could not make out what was inside. We stepped in to find out.
It has just dawned on me that the restaurant group formerly known as Taste Paradise has dropped the word “Taste” from their name. On their official website they are now simply known as the Paradise Group. Within the Paradise Group, there are different categories of restaurants. The Taste Paradise Dynasty class of restaurants seems to have a focus on northern Chinese cuisine. They also have the colourful xiao long bao as one of the main attractions on the menu. We had lunch at Paradise Dynasty Westgate recently.
