Set Lunch in Lotus Thai Restaurant at Paya Lebar Square

Lotus Thai Restaurant is, well, a Thai restaurant serving a wide range of Thai food at affordable prices. The New Lotus Thai Restaurant at Paya Lebar Square has a rather extensive menu and very reasonably priced set lunches.

Lotus Thai Restaurant at Paya Lebar Square has a simple unpretentious decor. The a la carte menu offers the usual Thai dishes – such as Tom Yum Soup, Green Curry, Pandan Leaves Chicken and Thai Basil Chicken as well Thai desserts and Lemongrass Drink.  The restaurant also has a Thai BBQ steamboat menu and has promotion items from time to time.

Set Lunch at Lotus Thai

There is a set lunch menu with prices starting from $9.80++ where you can get a main dish, rice and a drink. There is also a daily bento lunch set at only $8.80++.

We ordered a Lunch Set of omelet with minced chicken, steamed rice and Thai Milk Tea ($10.80) and the Bento set of the day ($8.80) – comprising basil leaves minced chicken, Thai fish cake, fried egg, some salad and steamed rice. Service charge and GST would be added to the bill.

The Thai fish cake of the Bento set of the day was good. It  was well-seasoned and had a firm, bouncy texture. The dipping sauce provided made the fish cake even more enjoyable.  The popular Thai dish of minced chicken with basil leaves was also quite well done. It was quite tasty and was nice to have with plain steamed rice.

The Lunch Set of omelet with minced chicken did not look very interesting and the taste did not excite either. To get a kick, we needed to add a bit of the potent chili in soy sauce concoction.

The best part of the set lunch was Iced Thai Milk Tea. It was creamy and very sweet. It was delightful but it would be a good idea not to have it too often – it was so very sweet.

Overall, Lotus Thai Restaurant at Paya Lebar Square is a good spot for a simple affordable Thai meal. You get home-styled Thai dishes in a pleasant air-conditioned environment with full service. There is a good variety, dishes are of decent standards and the prices of the lunch sets are very reasonable.
