Chope Discount Vouchers offer discounts of up to 50% off the bills at selected restaurants. Like many dining deals, there is a catch. In the case of the Chope discount deal, there was one main catch – the discount vouchers have to be used for a specific location at designated times (usually off-peak hours). We decided to try using these vouchers at Tim Ho Wan Pacific Place.
On the top left corner of the Chope website, there is a link to a list of restaurants which gives discounts for off-peak dining with “Up to 50% off Chope Vouchers”. Some restaurants offer 50% discounts, some less. Some have very limited time periods to use the vouchers, some have more flexibility. At the end of this post we will highlight three other restaurants with attractive deals in terms of food, flexibility and amount of discount. In our case, we zoomed in on Tim Ho Wan Pacific Plaza because it offered the maximum discount of 50% and flexibility. The vouchers can be used between 2 – 5 pm on weekdays. The denomination of each voucher was affordable – $20. Do note the Terms of Use relating to the vouchers – e.g. they have expiry dates.
The Chope website is easy to navigate. We paid $30 for three $20 vouchers. Payment was made by credit card. The electronic vouchers were sent by emails to us. The voucher has a serial number and QR Code. We informed the restaurant we were using Chope vouchers when we placed our orders and they scanned our vouchers when it was time to pay. Our bill was $73 – we paid $60 using the vouchers and the balance in cash.
Tim Ho Wan is a dim sum restaurant that opens the whole day. There are the quiet spells between regular meal times. For some diners who have flexibility of time ( for example retirees), it makes sense to avoid the crowds and get a decent discount. This Chope Discount Voucher scheme makes a lot of sense. A good way to capture the business from the senior citizens and to provide dining options at a discount.
Tim Ho Wan Pacific Plaza is a convenient at the junction of Scotts and Orchard Road. It is an attractive restaurant with a large window.
Here are pictures of the Tim Ho Wan menu.
Here are pictures of some of the items that we had that day. The danger of having a 50% discount is over ordering.
These were the best items of the day. We ate more than we should because everything seemed cheaper.
