iSteaks Star Vista - Affordable steaks in Singapore

iSteaks Star Vista is one of the outlets of iSteaks Diner, an outfit that focuses on meat items in their menu. It seems like the place to go for affordable steaks in Singapore. iSteaks has three outlets in Singapore. The other two are in Serangoon Gardens and Tampines Central. So far, I have always thought of Jack’s Place and Astons as the places to go for steaks that do not cost an arm and a leg in Singapore. Could iSteaks Diner be another place to go for affordable steaks in Singapore?

Taking over the space previously occupied by District 10, iSteaks Star Vista has a small air-conditioned space and a large outdoor dining area. The indoor area is rather cramped. The outdoor space is nicer, assuming the weather is not too hot.

We can see clearly that meat, and in particular, beef, is the main attraction at iSteaks. There is a wide variety of beef steaks ranging from a NZ Striploin 200g ($18) to an Australian Wagyu 1.2kg rump ($115). There are some pasta options as well. I had lunch at iSteaks Star Vista recently. I chose a low ranking ribeye steak ($24 for 250g). Each “Grill Speciality” at iSteaks comes with 2 side dishes. I chose fries and mac & cheese.

The steak and sides were simply but nicely presented. The complementary side dishes were nicer that I expected. The mac & cheese in particular was very good. As for the steak it was a pleasant steak but the seasoning used must have used quite a bit of salt. It did not have the depth of flavours than more expensive or aged steaks have. But as a budget steak, I have no complaints. A 250g ribeye steak will cost around $15 from the supermarket.

The price stated on the menu was the nett price (i.e. no further GST or service charge was added) which I thought was nice. But they charge 50 cents for water. Overall, other than the saltiness, iSteak does seem promising as our new place to go to for affordable steaks in Singapore, as long as we remember to ask for less salt on our steaks.
