Restaurant Beurre is a new restaurant in Bukit Pasoh for sharing plates and rice bowls. Their French and European inspired dishes are beautifully plated and reasonably priced.
Restaurant Beurre in Bukit Pasoh
Restaurant Beurre is located in one of the old shophouses with ornate facades along Bukit Pasoh Road. The name of the new restaurant is found on a small copperplate beside the front door. It is easy to walk pass the place without realising that it is a restaurant. Walk through the narrow main door and you will see a modern restaurant behind tinted glass panels.
The glass door opens up to a simply decorated space with muted colours. The open kitchen takes up about half of the floor space and tables are lined up on the narrow strip that is left. The chefs in the kitchen all looked very young.
Menu of Restaurant Beurre
The name of the new restaurant is apparently driven by the love for butter (beurre in French). We presumed butter is used generously in the cooking. The dishes at Restaurant Beurre are mainly for sharing. The lunch menu offers Japanese rice bowls and a few Westen and fusion sharing plates. The dinner menu has a more extensive list of small plates and big plates for communal dining. Below are pictures of the lunch menu and dinner menu of Restaurant Beurre.
Lunch at Restaurant Beurre
We had lunch at Restaurant Beurre recently and tried their Pork Rice Bowl ($16) and Crab Omelette ($18).
The rice bowl came with colourful toppings, including onsen egg, potato crips and onions. The pork pieces in the Pork Rice Bowl came in thick, hearty slices. They were tender and had a rich buttery flavour. The various ingredients of the rice bowl combined well. We found the rice to be a tad hard. Otherwise, it was a rather enjoyable dish.
The Crab Omelette was served with lobster bisque, lumpfish caviar and crispy small onions. The dish was beautifully plated. It was quite nice except that there was hardly any taste of crab. The crispy onions were the most interesting and enjoyable parts of the dish.
Interesting Affordable Dishes
Restaurant Beurre does not pretend to be a high end restaurant even though it makes the effort to plate dishes worthy of a fine dining restaurant. The young chefs have done a good job of offering interesting dishes that look good and are affordably priced. Butter, which inspired the name of the restaurant, have all sorts of grades and varieties – organic, salted, unsalted, hand-churned etc – but ordinary folks like us are usually happy with just butter that tastes good enough and is reasonably priced. Similarly, ordinary patrons will probably be happy with the dishes at Restaurant Beurre simply because they are good enough and are affordably priced.
