Dinner Buffet at The Dining Room – Sheraton Towers

Buffet in a hotel in Singapore need not necessarily mean crowded dining space and a less than genteel rush for the trays of oysters and sashimi. The Dining Room at Sheraton Towers offers a delectable international buffet spread in a spacious dining area with views of cascading waterfalls, rock pools and verdant greenery. When we visited The Dining Room on a weekday evening, the place could even be said to be serene and we felt like we were eating in a proper 5 star hotel restaurant and not like in a cafeteria where we would have to wait in line for food.

The Dining Room is located on the ground floor of Sheraton Towers. It is an open space with basic simple interior decorations. Its main features are its tall ceiling and full height glass panels on two sides of the restaurant. Diners can get a great view of Sheraton Towers’ signature cascading waterfall and lush landscaped gardens. In the evening you get the benefit of live piano performance at the adjacent Lobby Bar.

Buffet at The Dining Room

The Dining Room is the typical hotel all day dining restaurant with international, Asian and local favorites on its menu.

The Dining Room Menu

The Buffet at The Dining Room is not one of the hotspots for the typical Singaporean buffet crowd. That means that there will not be the usual rush for food and queues for the favourite items. We went for the dinner buffet at The Dining Room recently and found the experience a most pleasant one. There was no congestion and no empty tray by the time you got to the dish you wanted. We could pick our food leisurely. The spread was not very extensive but we thought the standard of the food was as good as those you might find in the very popular buffet restaurants in Singapore. Currently, the buffet spread offers international and local savoury mains and desserts and features a good selection of fresh seafood.

The Appetizers

The appetizers are varied and include cold cuts, antipasti, seafood timbale and roast duck salad.

There is the usual popular fresh seafood station which offers shucked oysters, crabs, clams, mussels, prawns, scallops and more.

The Dining Room has a Rising Sun Gallery featuring cold soba, fresh California maki rolls and sashimi.

Then there is a wide variety of salad and also an old and new world cheese showcase.

There is also a live station where chefs prepare to order local dishes on a rotational basis. The delicious local favourites would include wanton noodles, prawn mee siam and laksa.

The Mains

The selections for mains will include seafood like baked seabass, buttered cereal prawns and lobsters. For those who like meat and poultry, there are beef rendang, lamb tangine, roast pork, grilled chicken. A carving station will serve Beef Wellington.

If you must have your full load of carbohydrates there are fried Hokkien prawn noodles, e-fu noodles and fried rice. Pasta of the day can also be ordered.

The soups we tried were very good.

The Dining Room dinner buffet also has an Indian vegetarian station.

The Dining Room Buffet Desserts

Sometimes buffets offer the best excuse to sample a wide variety of desserts. The Dining Room will give you plenty of reasons to defer your sugar intake control for yet another day.

Cheese cake, chocolate cake, mango cake and pandan layer cake plus choux puff and eclairs will be there to tempt you. There will also be an assortment of nyonya kuehs. It will also be hard to resist the durian crumble.

Chocolate fountain, ice cream, yogurt, refreshing fruits plus coffee and tea will ensure that you walk out of the buffet at The Dining Room feeling like you have a proper grand dinner.

Quality Buffet Food

The Dining Room’s buffet does not feature flamboyant live stations and the spread is not ultra extensive. Nevertheless, the selection of international and local dishes available is more than adequate and the food offered is top quality. The spaciousness of The Dining Room and its serene atmosphere make a buffet meal there a pleasant experience. When you want to have a buffet in a 5 star hotel where there is quality food but no congestion and long queues at the food stations, buffet at The Dining Room may be one of the best options.

  1. hi, I live in the neighbourhood , although i have not eaten at the Sheration for 3 years,
they seem to have a ladies night discount mid week. I don’t think the guys are keen because the dishes on “ladies night ” seem to be tailor-made for gu -niang …. 🙂

Price wise, diners may want to spend more time to save $$ and then go to Shangri-la because
the food range is wider , desserts also more varied and 8 kinds of ice cream

Leave a comment. It will mean a great deal to us.
