Pano Kato Grill, Pizza and Deli is a new restaurant in Tanglin Mall (level 2). It is another project by the owners of the House of AnLi Store and Bistro which is also located in Tanglin Mall but on a floor above. According to their website, Pano Kato (Πάνω Κάτω) means ‘Upstairs Downstairs’ in Greek. Pano Kato serves Mediterranean cuisine.
Pano Kato Grill is a bright and attractive restaurant. Like the sister restaurant upstairs, the restaurant is also linked to a retail space selling home and decor objects. Some items used in the restaurant such as the benches and cutlery can be bought next door.
The deli section near the entrance had some enticing food items were on display.
Pano Kato Menu
Here are pictures of the Pani Kato menu, Greek and Italian dishes dominate the menu.
The tomato, garlic, basil and oregano pizza ($18) was a simple thin crust pizza. The taste of the herbs, tomato sauce and the whole gloves of grilled garlic combined very well. It was the best dish of the day.
We tried the catch of the day ($68) with a side of roasted mixed vegetables ($14). The whole grilled fish was slightly dry. We thought that it was quite a pricey dish as the fish was not very big. We like the herbs that were stuffed into the fish. The grilling infused some of the herb flavours into the meat.
The roasted vegetables were more enjoyable than the fish. Other than the carrots which were hard and could do with more cooking, the vegetables were enjoyable.
Finally, we cannot visit a Greek restaurant without trying the mousakka ($32). At Pano Kato Grill, the mousakka was fine. There was quite a bit of meat in the mousakka. We prefer more eggplant and creamy bechamel sauce with our mousakka.
