One of the best things about Singapore is that you can drive to pick up Peking Duck from Hua Ting Restaurant in Orchard Road one day and walk to Katong Shopping Centre to dabao Delicious Boneless Chicken Rice the next day – and have a delightful meal on both occasions.
Delicious Boneless Chicken Rice
The hawker stall in the food court of Katong Shopping Centre is one of the most popular chicken rice stalls in Singapore. The stall’s signboard has no name except for the descriptive “美味起骨雞飯 Delicious Boneless Chicken Rice”. Nowadays, it seems to have branded itself as “K.T.M.W Delicious Boneless Chicken Rice” with “K.T.M.W” being the acronym for “Katong Mei Wei”.
According to an asiaone article, the Katong chicken rice stall now has a second-generation owner, who is a young hunk with over 10,000 followers on Instagram and who has video clips that have gone viral in Tiktok.
Delicious Boneless Chicken Rice Takeaway
We went to Katong Delicious Boneless Chicken Rice for takeaway recently. A standard packet of chicken rice was $5.90; add 50 cents if drumstick is requested.
Free flow achar and lotus root and cabbage soup come with any order of chicken rice when eating in the food court. Soup is not part of the deal for takeaway but a packet of achar is given. The achar is not typical. It consists of chunky pieces of pineapples and cucumbers and some carrots and onions. The pickled vegetables are not too acidic and can be quite refreshing.
Steamed chicken
The rice, cooked with yellow ginger, and chilli sauce were fine but the main attraction of Katong Delicious Boneless Chicken Rice is the chicken.
The steamed chicken was tender, juicy and tasty. The garnishing added colour and texture but contributed to the flavours as well.
Roasted chicken
The roasted chicken, flavoured with sesame oil, was also succulent and delectable. The garnishing of fried garlic bits added interesting texture and aroma to the mix, making everything more enjoyable.
Notwithstanding the name of the stall, the chicken is not boneless. It is delicious though.
Convenient & Delicious
Long queue at the Katong Shopping Centre chicken rice stall was the norm until an electronic queue number system was introduced not too long ago. It is now even more convenient to enjoy Katong Delicious Boneless Chicken Rice because online ordering and islandwide delivery have been introduced.
