Chope Delivery is a food delivery service rolled out by Chope, a popular restaurant reservation platform. We selected the Coffee Academics Chope Delivery from the list of deals available on the Chope On Delivery website. The reason? Free delivery and 1-for-1 pasta offer for June.
Coffee Academics Chope Delivery Offer for June
There are some 1-for-1 and 50% off offers at Chope on Delivery. Some of the restaurants offer the discount for all items, some are for selected items only. In the case of Coffee Academics, the 1-of-1 deal was limited to pasta only and it involves paying once for two portions of the same dish i.e. no mix and match. But with a minimum order of $40, one has to purchase more than one item anyway. That was how we ended up with four pasta dishes – Umami Pasta ($22.47 for 2) and Spicy Crab Meat Liguine ($25.68 for 2).
Coffee Academics 1-for-1 Pasta
The ordering and delivering process went smoothly. The food arrived within 10 minutes of the appointed time.
The spicy crab meat linguine was really spicy. I think it was as spicy as a typical mee pok tar with chilli. Which was a pity as it drowned out the taste of the crabmeat and other ingredients. Other than that it was a nice dish as there was a fair amount of crabmeat and pine nuts. We would order this again, but only if they will reduce the heat level by at least half.
The umami pasta is also described as “spicy” on the menu. But this was at a much lower level than the crab meat linguine. This is one of our favourites at Coffee Academics and another main reason we decided to order Coffee Academics Chope Takeaway. In fact we thought it would not do it justice if we just showed it in its tabao box.
The Coffee Academics Umami Pasta deserves to be served on a plate, even at home. It is made of sautéed spaghetti with sweet shrimp spicy XO sauce topped with shio konbu, onsen egg and ebiko. Basically, all the ingredients are delicious and umami-inducing. The magic ingredient I think are the small shrimps that are tasty in themselves and also impart a mild prawn flavour to the dish. This is certainly a dish we would order again. In fact we may order four of these the next time.
