A-One Claypot House is a popular family restaurant chain with many outlets all over Singapore. It is perhaps most well known for its traditional claypot porridge and other hotplate and claypot dishes. However, there is a good range of simple homely dishes, which now can be enjoyed at home with the introduction of A-One Claypot House Takeaway & Delivery.
A-One Claypot House Takeaway & Delivery
Like many F&B establishments in Singapore now, A-One Claypot House has introduce online ordering and delivery and pickup services. Family Sets for 4 or 8, Bento Sets and a la carte dishes are available.
Recently, we went to A-One Claypot House at Kallang Wave to get a few simple dishes to go with rice at home. We ordered the Handmade Beancurd with Chai Po in Hongkong Style Sauce 港式菜圃豆腐 ($14.90), Stir-Fried French Beans with Minced Meat 干扁四季豆 ($12.90) and Deep Fried Pumpkin & Lotus Root with Creamy Salted Egg Sauce 黄金咸蛋金瓜莲藕 ($14.90).
The aesthetics of the A-One Claypot House takeaway packaging and the food in the takeaway containers is not particularly noteworthy. The food was good homely comfort food. The portion size was reasonable – good to be shared by 3 to 4 persons.
Pumpkin & Lotus Root with Salted Egg Sauce
The Deep Fried Pumpkin & Lotus Root with Salted Egg Sauce was a rather unusual dish. We had not seen too many pumpkin items on the menus of Chinese restaurants in Singapore. It turned out too be a very enjoyable dish. The pumpkin and lotus root were fried to a nice golden brown with crispy surfaces. The natural sweetness of the pumpkin combined well with the rich creamy salted egg yolk sauce.
French Beans with Minced Meat
The French Beans with Minced Meat was straightforward dish with just a few ingredients. The French beans had a nice colour and texture. They were tender and had a natural sweetness. The simple dish went went with plain steamed rice.
Beancurd with Chai Po
The Beancurd with Chai Po was also an interesting dish. It would be suitable for vegetarians as the tofu was topped with chai po or preserved radish, instead of minced meat. The tofu was smooth and soft and the salty crunchy chai po provided a nice contrast.
Simple Comfort Food
We had visited A-One Claypot House previously (you can read about out visits here and here to see the other dishes we had tried). We are happy that with A-One Claypot House Takeaway & Delivery, we can now also enjoy its reasonably priced simple comfort food at home.
