Gordon Grill is a steakhouse at the Goodwood Park Hotel Singapore known for its Continental cuisine. It is an evergreen restaurant, established in 1963 but we have never been there. We thought that its $58++ lunch set meals looked reasonable and decided it was time to go.
The Goodwood Park Hotel at Scotts Road is one of the grandest hotels in Singapore. It is undergoing some renovations at the moment but the Goodwood restaurants appear to be business as usual except for the Min Jiang restaurant which now operates in temporary airconditioned facilities in the converted courtyard.
The Gordon Grill is an elegant restaurant. Its formal restaurant setting might give the impression of a stuffy place. But that was not the case. The experienced servers were helpful and professional, reminding us of other old school western restaurants such as Shashlik. Here are pictures of the Gordon Grill Weekend Roast Lunch Menu as well as the “Big-on-Small” Lunch Menu for weekdays.

The Appetisers and Soup
Our lunch started with a platter of bread and amuse bouche. We selected Hokkaido scallop and pan-fried foie gras from the list of appetisers. Both of them were fine but not exactly memorable. They were the weakest part of the lunch.
Our Lobster Bisque was very good. With a rich and deep seafood flavour, this was something we thought was more in keeping with the high reputation of the Gordon Grill. In fact we might pick this instead of an appetiser in a three-course lunch.
The Main Course
We selected the slow-roasted U.S. prime beef ribeye on wagon (served with Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, vegetables and bordelaise sauce) and
grilled lamb chop (with colcannon potato, French beans and mushroom sauce).
We were pleased with our main course selections. They were the highlight of the lunch at Gordon Grill. Because of the COVID situation, the weekend roast was not served on a wagon. It was a substantial slab of prime beef ribeye that was flavourful and tender. With the Yorkshire pudding and bordelaise sauce, the beef tasted even better.
The lamb chops were top-notch. Sweet, juicy and without any gamey taste. The only negative was that the two chops were so small. It might not be enough for those with a big appetite. Our sharing arrangement for the beef and the lamb worked well.
Dessert
Our choice of dessert was nougatine parfait with espresso croquant ice cream which brought our weekend lunch at Gordon Grill to a sweet end. Coffee or tea was included in the price of the meal. But there was no complimentary parking at Goodwood Park Hotel.
