Vineyard Restaurant in HortPark is an affordable French-Italian restaurant in a unique location. It is a suitable venue for a family brunch, a casual lunch or a romantic dinner.
Vineyard Restaurant in HortPark
We had brunch at Vineyard in HortPark a while back. You can read about our earlier visit here. We went to Vineyard again for lunch recently.
The place had undergone a nip and tuck. The interiors have a more casual look. The space is well bathed with natural light and has a airy resort feel.
One of the things that have changed is that Vineyard Restaurant now has an electronic menu. You scan a QR Code to view the menu on your smart phone. You can view the menu on their website (link below).
Lunch at Vineyard
We ordered a Calamari Fritto Misto ($18) to share as our starters. The deep fried squids were served with salad and pickles. Squid Ink Aioli and Sriracha Aioli for dipping were served separately. The calamari was crisp and delectable on its own. The other ingredients and sauces would add different layers of taste. The Italian specialty dish was delightful.
For our mains, we ordered the Barley Fed Onglet Steak ($28) and Grilled Pork Chop ($29).
The char-grilled beef came with a mushroom and onion red wine sauce and with garlic mashed potato. The dish looked good and the taste did not disappoint. The beef had a nice amount of marbling, which made the meat juicy and tender. It was a good dish with nice textures and flavours.
The grilled pork chop looked rather simple. The pork was tender and tasty. What really made the dish special was the balsamic plum gastrique, a reduction of vinegar and sugar. The fruity, sweet and tangy sauce enhanced the enjoyment of the pork greatly.
Desserts at Vineyard
Since there was not much carbohydrates in our dishes, we decided to indulge by ordering two dessert items – Tiramisu ($14) and Creme Brulee ($12). We thought the prices were a tad high. However, the portions were quite large. We could have shared one dessert – it would have been better for our budget and health.
Both the tiramisu and creme brulee were about what you would expect – nice but nothing exceptional.
A Pleasant Affair
The lunch at Vineyard Restaurant in HortPark was a very pleasant affair. Other than the costs of the desserts, the prices were very reasonable. The food was good – quality French-Italian food that was enjoyable.
