Plank, Baker & Cook @ Core Collective Dempsey Hill

Plank Sourdough Pizza, Baker & Cook Dempsey combine to create a unique dining space in the Core Collective Dempsey area at the Loewen Road cluster of the Dempsey Hill dining enclave.

Plank Sourdough Pizza and Baker & Cook are sister restaurants. They can be found separately in some locations and are together in others. At Core Collective Dempsey, they seem to have separate buildings. But there is a common menu and the food from both sources are available in the dining space at the Baker & Cook building.

What is Core Collective? It is a health, wellness and lifestyle business. It has a city location in Anson and the other at Dempsey. Within the vast space at Loewen Road are places where dance, yoga and Pilates classes and other activites are conducted. Within the compound is Plank and Baker & Cook @ Core Collective Dempsey which provides the physical nourishment for the tired bodies.

We were not there for any beauty or fitness objectives. We were simply curious about what is there to eat at Baker & Cook Dempsey which is contained in an attractive glass block of a building surrounded by greenery. There is the familiar array of attractive baked goods on display at the counter.

Here are pictures of some portions of the Plank, Baker & Cook Menu at Core Collective Dempsey. Pizza and all-day breakfast are types of food that are always popular and they seem to have found the right formula.

We only stopped by for coffee and dessert and here are pictures of what we ate at Plank, Baker & Cook. We shared an eclair and a piece of lemon cake.

The coffee (around $4.80 each) were very good. The type that is thick and smooth but not sourish. The eclair and cake were ok but not extraordinary. But from what we observed, the cooked food items served on rustic wooden platters look enticing. We will return another day to try them.

Plank, Baker & Cook at Dempsey certainly looks like a nice place to have a casual meal. It was a hot day when we were there. The air-conditioning struggled to to handle the heat trapped within the glass house. I think the best places are the tables at the shady spots outside. Watching the dog and kids frolic on the grass in between bites of the Parma ham pizza is the way to go.
