Spanish restaurant Pura Brasa has built a strong following among local diners seeking charcoal-grilled tapas. Customers enjoy its menu of classic Spanish dishes alongside creative spins on traditional staples, offering a variety of grilled meats, seafood, pastas and burgers. Pura Brasa recently expanded its presence in Singapore with a new outlet at Paya Lebar Quarter (PLQ).

Pura Brasa PLQ

The new Pura Brasa is located on the ground level of PLQ 1, facing the PLQ Plaza. It offers a casual space for sharing plates with collegues, freinds and family.

The layout features limited air-conditioned indoor seating. However, the restaurant has a large “outdoor” dining area set under the sheltered plaza. That dining area provides ample space for large groups without feeling cramped.

Menu of Pura Brasa
The menu offers tapas and classic Spanish staples. Many items rely on the kitchen’s signature Josper grill, which uses charcoal to impart a distinct smoky flavour. Many dishes are meant for sharing, so dining with colleagues or family allows everyone to sample a broad selection of items.
Below are pictures of the menu of Pura Brasa PLQ.

Lunch at Pura Brasa PLQ
We visited the newly opened Pura Brasa PLQ for lunch recently. We ordered the Spanish Omelette with Coca Bread ($18), Josper Grilled Iberico Pork Collar ($16) and Tagliatelle Marisco ($34).

The Spanish Omelette with Coca Bread arrived as a thick, circular, golden-yellow cake paired with toasted bread rubbed with tomato purรฉe. Slicing into the centre of the omelette revealed a soft interior of cooked potato and egg. Its texture was dense yet soft and creamy, offering a rich, savoury, and comforting flavour.
The crispy bread added a nice crunch. It was a delicious way to enjoy our carbs.

The Josper Grilled Iberico Pork Collar was actally referred to as “satay”. The Cajun-spiced pork grilled directly over the coals carried deep grill marks and a strong charcoal aroma. Crispy fried shallots sprinkled over the top added extra texture. Additionally, the dish came with a side of tangy Indonesian peanut sauce, offering a unique local flavour pairing.
Grilling the marbled Iberico pork created a crisp outer crust while keeping the meat tender, juicy, and melt-in-your-mouth soft on the inside. The dish was rich in flavour and was really enjoyable.

The Tagliatelle Marisco was a generous portion of broad pasta ribbons tossed with seafood. The pasta was topped fresh prawns, clam and other infredients. A quick squeeze of fresh lemon brightened The flat noodles absorbed the the rich seafood sauce well. It was a nicely balanced and delightful pasta dish.

Great for occasional visits
Overall, Pura Brasa at Paya Lebar Quarter delivered a pleasant dining experience. The service staff were welcoming, friendly, and quick to clear plates. Moreover, the staff offered complimentary tap water, a much appreciated practice in an era where many places charge exorbitant prices for bottled options. The food we tried was delicious, and portions were fairly generous. While prices are reasonable, they might be slightly high for everyday meals. We think Pura Brasa is a great option for occasional visits.
