Tablescape Restaurant & Bar is a classy restaurant on the third level of the Grand Park City Hall Hotel which is next to The Capitol. The Tablescape set lunch is good value for a three-course meal in a quiet and attractive place.
We had first visited Tablescape Restaurant when it first opened in 2018. Being a restaurant on the third floor of the Grand Park City Hall hotel, it is not a very visible place to eat. It was a quiet place when we first visited and was still one when we went there for lunch recently in 2021. The calm, serene atmosphere remained the same. It is a suitable place to go to discuss something serious or to meet up with a potential candidate for recruitment.
Tablescape Restaurant Menu
Although things seemed to look the same, we soon discovered that some changes had taken place in terms of the Tablescape Restaurant menu and food. The 3-course Business Set Lunch now costs $29++. The price seems to have been lowered since our last visit (which you can read about in our post). Here are pictures of the Tablescape set lunch menu and a couple of pages from the a la carte menu. In addition to the set lunch we decided on a couple of items from the latter.
One thing that remained the same at Tablescape Restaurant is the wonderful selection of bread that was served at the start of the meal.
Tablescape Set Lunch
This was what we selected from the set lunch menu (avoiding the items that require additional payments) – Mesclun Salad, 12-hour Slow Cooked Pork and Fruit Garden.
All the dishes were beautifully presented. They will not look out of place in an expensive fine dining setting. Perhaps reflective of the reasonable price of $29, these dishes were made with mainstream ingredients without any obvious premium items. By comparison, our previous 3-course lunch at Tablescape cost $42, but included items like foie gras and lamb. The sauces and flavours also felt much “upmarket” at that time. We are glad that they have adjusted the prices downwards to match what they now offer.
Dishes from the a la carte menu
The items that we selected from the a la carte menu were the Black Angus Beef Cheek ($38, picture above) and the Seabass ($32, picture below). Both dishes were fine and the portion size of the beef cheek was substantial. As for taste, they were fine but not as memorable as the dishes we tried when Tablescape first opened.
