The new Five Oars Coffee Roasters (FOCR) cafe at Siglap is bigger and more beautiful than the old FOCR cafe at Tanjong Pagar. It still opens early and serves very good coffee as well as a good selection of all day breakfast dishes and casual dining fare for dinner.
New Five Oars Coffee Roasters (FOCR) at Siglap
Five Oars Coffee Roasters (FOCR) is a homegrown cafe that first opened in Tanjong Pagar a few years back. We visited the very popular at Tanjong Pagar and were not disappointed (see our post on FOCR Tanjong Pagar). FOCR Tanjong Pagar was closed a few months ago. Their loyal fans must have suffered severe withdrawal symptons. So when the new Five Oars Coffee Roasters (FOCR) cafe opened in Siglap, it was packed almost as soon as it was opened.
The new FOCR at Siglap occupies the whole ground floor of a small mixed development – No. 6 Upper East Coast Road. Killiney Kopitiam Siglap and Starbucks are just across the road.
Like FOCR Tanjong Pagar, the new cafe at Upper East Coast Road has an attractive naturally ventilated area in the front.
The air-conditioned space in Siglap is bigger and looks better than the interior of the old FOCR Tanjong Pagar. The large barista bar takes centre stage and the open kitchen is to the rear.
A variety of seating arrangements are at the two wings of the cafe. There are seats suitable for families and big groups as well for the solo diner.
Five Oars Coffee Roasters Cafe Menu
Five Oars Coffee Roasters Cafe at East Coast serves Breakfast and Brunch till 5.30 pm. There is a separate evening menu. The menu is on its website and can also be accessed by scanning a QR code at the cafe. Below are random screenshots of the menu of FOCR Siglap.
There were tempting cakes in the display cabinet.
Besides coffee and tea, FOCR also offers sodas, beer and wines.
Brunch at FOCR Cafe Siglap
We had brunch at FOCR Cafe recently. We ordered the Buttermilk Chicken Burger ($20), French Toast ($16), a latte and a cappuccino ($5 each). GST and service charge would be added to the bill.
Water was served almost as soon as were were seated. The wait for our food was about 15 to 20 minutes.
The Buttermilk Chicken Burger was good. It was served with a large portion of fries. The chicken thigh flavoured with buttermilk was tender and succulent and crispy on the outside. The cabbage and apple slaw added a nice tangy sweetness. It was an enjoyable chicken burger.
The French Toast was hipster cafe standard – nice thick and fluffy brioche topped with a colourful mix of poached pear, grilled peach, rhubarb, strawberries and blue berries. The interesting addition was sweet almond flakes which provided a contrasting texture. The French Toast of FOCR looked good and tasted good.
Both the latte and cappuccino were dependably good.
A Feel Good Place
We like the new Five Oars Coffee Roasters East Coast at Siglap. Stylish and charming aesthetics combine with its excellent coffee, variety of food offerings and friendly service make Five Oars Coffee Roasters Cafe a cafe you just want to visit and linger. It is a feel good place. Every neighbourhood should have one.
FOCR Siglap is not near any MRT station but bus stops are nearby. There is a big surface car park less than 100 metres from the cafe.

Incredible that for a coffee place, you left out the coffee menu!
Hi, there is a link at the end of the post to the online menu, where you can view the Drinks Menu.
