Teochew food delivery or takeaway is available from Ah Orh Seafood Restaurant (亚乌海鲜楼). We picked up a $60 WFH set lunch meal for 3 to 4 pax from this famous Singapore Teochew restaurant along Jalan Bukit Merah.
WFH Set Meals
Ah Orh Seafood Restaurant (亚乌海鲜楼) is one of the oldest Teochew restaurants in Singapore. You can see more pictures of it and the Ah Orh dine in menu in our earlier post on this Teochew restaurant. To cater to the current situation of dining-in restrictions, they offer Teochew food delivery and takeaway options. Free delivery is available for orders above $100, otherwise a $15 delivery fee applies. Takeaway or self pick-up orders through their website gets a 15% discount. Several Ah Orh WFH set lunch meals have been compiled by the restaurant. They range from an affordable $45 Teochew set meal for 2 pax to a luxurious $228 meal for 8 pax. Here is a screen shot of a portion of the online menu. We selected the $60 WFH Set Meal for 3 to 4 pax.
The $60 set meal was a 4-dish meal with rice for four persons. There are several options for each dish. We chose the braised tofu, oyster omelette, braised duck and yam paste with gingko nut.
Ah Orh Teochew Food Delivery Lunch
The set meal bundle was larger and heavier than we had expected. There were four portions of rice, each of them adequate for an average person.
The yam paste dessert (oh nee) was a small tub filled to the brim. The tofu and omelette were also sizeable. Only the duck was of a size that we expected, which was small compared to the others.
Our favourite dish of the day was the oyster omelette, prepared Teochew style with just eggs and little or no starch/ The oysters were large and sweet.
Our usual favourite when we visit the restaurant is the braised duck. But the duck that day seemed to be unlike its normal style. The meat was tough and a large part of the box was filled with pork pieces. The latter turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the pork was better than the chewy duck.
The braised tofu with a generous amount of gravy made it the perfect dish to eat with plain rice. The yam paste was our second favourite dish of the day. It was finely ground and creamy with a nice yam taste and not too sweet or oily.
Conclusion
As a package we thought that the $60 meal for 4 was good value for money. Everything in the Ah Orh Teochew food delivery / takeaway meal was as expected or better except for the duck. We will order this again but will try the pork ribs instead of the duck instead.
