The Clueless Goat is a no frill neighbourhood cafe in Goldhill Centre. You will find nice cafe fare and good coffee at very reasonable prices in this friendly cafe that has been around since 2015.
The Clueless Goat in Thomson
We are not aware of the story behind the name “Clueless Goat”. Perhaps it was an ironical acknowledgement that the owners were clueless when they took the space that the cafe would be obscured by construction hoarding for an extended period of time.
The Clueless Goat in Goldhill Centre is actually in a very good location. It faces the cross junction where Thomson Road intersects with Newton Road and Moulmein Road. It is right next to one of the exits of Novena MRT Station. Its glass store front would let in plenty of natural light and give diners in the cafe a nice view of the urbanscape. Instead, the cafe is blocked off from view because of extensive works relating to the construction of the North-South Corridor, which will have tunnels and viaducts with dedicated bus lanes, cycling routes and pedestrian paths.
The interior decor of The Clueless Goat cafe is basic and functional. It is what you would expect of a casual neighbourhood cafe before the Instagram era. It is unpretentious, welcoming and comfortable.
The Menu of Clueless Goat Cafe
The menu of the cafe is straightforward. It essentially serves brunch items including sandwiches, waffles and salads. There are a few daily specials written on the chalkboards.
Below are pictures of The Clueless Goat menu.
Brunch at The Clueless Goat Cafe
We visited The Clueless Goat Cafe at Goldhill Centre for brunch recently. We ordered the Goat’s House Salad (8.90) and the Cream Pasta ($13). The long black, both hot and iced, and white coffee were $4.50 each.
The Goat’s House Salad was more substantial than we expected. The mixed greens were topped with smoked salmon, poached egg and bruschetta. It was a refreshing guilt free indulgent salad.
The Cream Pasta was a simple dish of spaghetti with mushroom, bacon and a rich creamy pasta sauce. It was luxurious comfort food. The portion size was rather large. We thought that it was great value at just $13.
We were feeling greedy so we asked for a piece of coconut brownies. The coconut layer was like the old school sweet coconut candy – very sweet. Try this if you miss the traditional coconut candy. Otherwise, the traditional brownies may be a better option.
The Clueless Goat uses beans from Common Man Coffee. We liked all the coffees we tried, black and white. They were well made and had nice flavours and aromas.
Nice Affordable Cafe
The Clueless Goat Cafe may be hidden from view for the time being but if you are looking for a cafe in the area, make an effort to find The Clueless Goat. You are unlikely to be disappointed. It is cosy and does not feel crowded. The service is friendly. It serves nice food and good coffee and we like their value for money pricing.
