The quaint gentrifying district between Lavender Station and Bendemeer Station is an indie cafe culture hub. There is a rich variety of specialty coffee shops, ice cream parlours and bakery cafes in Lavender and Bendemeer. New openings every now and then add to the interesting complexity and flavour of the suburban neighbourhood.

Cafes in Lavender-Bendemeer
Lavender MRT Station (EW11) is a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West Line. It is the stop for those going to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA Building) and the Jalan Besar Stadium and Swimming Complex. The Bendemeer MRT Station (DT23) on the Downtown Line also serves the Jalan Besar sports complex as well as the commercial developments around Lavender Street and the industrial estates along Kallang Avenue.

The area associated with hardware business and light industrial buildings is now home to many coffee shops and bakery cafes – from the traditional and mundane to the trendy and quirky. There are artisanal coffee roasters and specialty coffee places run by National Brewers’ Cup champions and bakery cafes by well known bakers.
