Langosteria Paris is the first overseas outpost of the famous Italian seafood restaurant from Milan. It is located in Cheval Blanc Hotel Paris, a luxury hotel in the LVMH group. We went there for lunch on a sunny Parisian day.
Restaurant at La Samaritaine
The restaurant is located on the seventh floor of Hotel Cheval Blanc, which is next to La Samaritaine, a beautifully restored building now converted into a shopping mall. We spent some time here admiring the place before proceeding next door to Langosteria Paris, a convenient place to have take a break from shopping or sightseeing in this area.
MICHELIN Guide Restaurant With Eiffel Tower View
Langosteria Paris is a part of the Langosteria Milano Italian restaurant group. It is listed in the Paris Michelin Guide but has no stars. “Lively atmosphere, cocktail bar, remarkable wine list, fresh fish and shellfish, pasta, delicious desserts…” is how it is described in the guide.
Situated on the seventh floor of the Cheval Blanc Paris Hotel, the restaurant has a large indoor dining area as well as a spacious terrace that looks out over the neighbourhood and the River Seine. Over here, seven storeys is high enough to tower over nearby buildings, making the terrace a great place to dine with a view over Paris with the Eiffel Tower clearly visible.
Those who prefer dining indoors can stay within the cool confines of the inner sections of the restaurants.
Langosteria Paris Menu
Here are pictures of some pages from the Langosteria Paris menu. Two types of fixed course lunch menus were available. We decided to try the Louvre menu (€118 per person). Since we were at a seafood restaurant, we also ordered a platter of oysters.
Lunch At Langosteria Paris
The choice of wine for lunch was a bottle of 2018 Domaine Bernard Millot Meursault (€149).
The very dry and fresh white Burgundy wine went well with the oyster platter and the rest of the predominantly seafood lunch. Wonderfully fresh oysters (€8 /€9 per piece) kicked off our lunch on a high note.
Louvre Menu Starters
Vongole veraci (which internet translated means carpet-shell clams) were finger sized clams served in a light broth. Delicate and flavourful.
Next to arrive was black grouper carpaccio. This dish of raw fish can be a match for sashimi at a good Japanese sushi restaurant. The freshness of the fish was unmistakeable.
Small pieces of langoustine, prawn, octopus and cuttlefish formed the final starter. Once again, good seafood products do not need much extra ingredients. Our only issue with this dish – it’s too small!
Main Course and Dessert
Galician turbot alla marinara was our main course. This fish is said to be the prized catch for the Spanish fisherman. The very clean tasting fish was very good, made better with the delicious marinara sauce.
Dessert was the weakest course of our lunch – tiramisu was quite one dimensional. Sweet is the word.
