Located in the charming Opera Estate, Le Petit Paris is a delightful French bistro bringing a touch of Parisian charm to this laid-back Siglap neighbourhood. It is a great option for enjoying good, unpretentious French food, whether you are in the mood for a leisurely meal or a quick bite.
Le Petit Paris at Swan Lake Avenue
Opera Estate is a charming residential area known for its landed homes. The streets in the estate are named after both traditional Malay operas and European operas, such as Swan Lake Avenue.
Le Petit Paris occupies a unit within a row of shophouses on Swan Lake Avenue, with the popular bakery cafe, Baker & Cook, at one end of the row and Black & Ink cafe at the other.
The small bistro has a cosy, neighbourhood vibe. The dining area is compact, and there is a small al fresco dining area sheltered by a Parisian-style awning.
The Menu of Le Petit Paris
Chef Felicien Cueff, an experienced chef with a CV boasting Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe and the US, leads the kitchen at Le Petit Paris. He first came to Singapore as Executive Chef of the Hilton Hotel and has since worked in various establishments here, including the Tower Club and the VIP floor at Crockford Tower, Resorts World Sentosa. He brings his expertise to Le Petit Paris, crafting traditional French cuisine with a contemporary touch. The menu offers a wide array of options, from refreshing breakfasts to hearty dinners.
Below are pictures of the menu for breakfast and brunch, and a page of Chef’s Special. The full menu can be viewed online (link below).
The bistro also offers lighter fare like delicate pastries and refreshing ice creams. There is also a good range of beverages.
Lunch at Le Petit Paris
We visited the charming French bistro at Swan Lake Avenue for lunch recently.
We were hungry and ordered a Butterfly pastry, or palmier ($3.80), to start. It was buttery and sweet, and enjoyable, although we would have preferred it to be warmed up.
Next we had the iconic French Onion Soup ($18), a rich and deeply flavourful broth with caramelized onions topped with brioche bread and emmental cheese. To enhance the experience, the restaurant thoughtfully served the soup in two separate half portions for easy sharing.
For the main course, we opted for the Smoke Pork Belly ($34) and the Duck Confit Parmentier ($28).
The Baked Duck Confit Parmentier was a delightful dish featuring layers of silky mashed potato and hand-shredded duck confit. Topped with breadcrumbs and garlic oil, it combined the rich flavours of duck confit with the comforting elements of shepherd’s pie.
The Smoke Pork Belly was served with a side of greens. The pork belly had been cured, smoked, and slow-cooked for 12 hours before being pan-seared just prior to serving. The thick-cut pork belly was smoky, springy and juicy. It was a hearty and enjoyable dish.
