PPP Coffee @ New Bahru is the third outlet of the hip cafe run by the folks who are behind the Chye Seng Huat Hardware cafe. This outlet is luxurious and has a facility to host coffee omakase sessions. The other locations of PPP Coffee are Funan Center and The Annex @ CSHH.

Vinyl Listening Coffee Bar?
For a moment we thought that this New Bahru outlet was also a vinyl record listening cafe. This kind of cafe seems to be catching on in Singapore and we have seen videos of such listening bars in Tokyo and Seoul. The long counter with a display of LP records and large speakers gave us an impression that hifi music could be enjoyed here. But they were not in operation at the time of our visit. Only the usual lo-fi background music was being played.

PPP Coffee @ New Bahru Omakase Experience
The record bar however has another purpose. Together with the service island in front, this is a place where personalised coffee can be prepared. Apparently this is also the facility where the PPP Coffee omakase experience takes place. Currently the omakase sessions ($55 per person) are scheduled on Fridays at 5pm. According to the website, this is an opportunity to sample “ truly exceptional coffees – from rare varietals to award-winning lots.” Sessions can be booked in advance.

Unfortunately we were not there on a Friday. The place was used mostly to prepare pour-over coffees. It is a lovely place to make coffee. We need to return another day for the PPP omakase experience.

PPP Coffee @ New Bahru menu
In addition to the usual coffee and cakes, this outlet also serves cooked food such as pasta, burgers and breakfast items. Here are pictures of the coffee and food menus.

Coffee and Snack Break

For our coffee and snack break at PPP New Bahru, we had iced and hot coffee and an almond croissant. The coffee was of the usual high standards of PPP and the croissant was ok. Service staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
