One Prawn & Co at New Bahru is a modern Asian seafood grill which brings together the great tastes of East and West. Its stylish space and relaxed setting make it a good option for a casual meal with friends or family.

Vibrant Spot in New Bahru

The restaurant is located on the ground level of New Bahru. It has inviting layout. There is a choice between dining outdoors, where you can soak up the lively atmosphere, or heading inside to the air-conditioned space. The indoor area is dominated by a large, stylish bar. If you sit there, you will get a front-row seat to the action in the open kitchen, watching the chefs grill and plate up your meal.

The rest of the indoor space is L-shaped, with well-spaced tables. The décor is sleek yet casual and fun. Splashes of colours on the upholstery, mosaic tiles and interesting lights make the space feel both modern and welcoming.

One of the walls is lined with wine fridges and a dry-ager cabinet for seafood. These sleek equipment add a touch of class to the restaurant, giving it a slightly more high-end feel.

Menu of One Prawn & Co
One Prawn & Co is the brainchild of Chef Gwyneth, who has a passion for woodfire grilling and inventive seafood dishes. She has taken inspiration from her travels and experience in top kitchens, fusing Asian flavours with Western techniques to create unique and interesting dishes.
The menu of One Prawn & Co features dishes like fish burger, seaweed skate, prawn toast with aioli, and crab croquettes. There are small plates and bites for sharing. For dessert, options like smoked ice cream with kaya and coffee, or a pavlova with tropical fruits, would round off a meal nicely. There are separate menus for lunch and dinner.
Below are pictures of the lunch menu.

What we Ate at One Prawn & Co
We ordered the Holy Haddock Burger ($24) and Prawn Broth Ramen with Crispy Pork Belly ($26) as well as an Americano ($6) and a Cappuccino ($6).

The Holy Haddock Burger had a thick, flaky fillet of haddock, cooked until just tender, and topped with melted cheddar cheese. The real twist came from the yuzu tartar sauce – citrusy, and just a bit tangy. The sauce made the fish burger special. Everything was sandwiched between a soft, slightly sweet bun. The fries were also very good – crispy and yummy.

The Prawn Broth Ramen was beautifully presented – a big bowl of ramen noodles in a vibrant orange-red broth. On top sat a generous piece of crispy pork belly, along with lava egg, bamboo shoots, fried shallots, and a sprinkling of spring onions. The prawn broth was the real star – rich, full-bodied, and packed with flavour. The crispy pork belly was tender and tasty, with just the right amount of crunch around the edges. It was a comforting, satisfying noodle dish and a great fusion of local prawn mee and Japanese ramen with Western pork belly with crackling.

The coffee was up to expected standard – plain and simple, but strong enough to give a decent caffeine kick.

Stylish & Comfortable
One Prawn & Co at New Bahru is a place we would go back to. The menu is not extensive, but there is enough variety to keep things interesting. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the setting is comfortable and stylish. One Prawn & Co is a great new spot to enjoy a well-cooked meal in a laid-back atmosphere with colleagues, friends or family.
