The Butcher’s Dining brings premium Korean butcher shop experience to Singapore. Located in Isetan Office Building on Havelock Road, it is a gourmet butchery and grocer as well as a restaurant.

Korean Butchery and Diner at Havelock Road

Isetan Office Building is a small, standalone commercial building located on a quiet part of Havelock Road, just off Zion Road. On the ground floor are Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh (temporarily closed currently) and The Butcher’s Dining.

There is an outdoor sitting area in the patio in front of The Butcher’s Dining. Walk through the entrance and we saw the retail area of the butchery and grocer. We were led through narrow side entrance into a well appointed dining room.

The dining space has a casual yet polished feel. A bar counter sits in front of the kitchen, where glass windows let you watch the chefs at work. Though compact, the space is well-lit and feels open and airy.

Seating arrangements cater to couples and small groups. It is the sort of place where you might go for a relaxed meal with friends or a casual business lunch.

The Butcher’s Dining Menu

A signboard outside tells us that The Butcher’s Dining offers Korean BBQ as well as bistro fare such as pork cutlet and hamburger.

The menu features a variety of Korean dishes and drinks, such as Kimchi Cold Noodles, Korean Fried Chicken, Makgeolli, and Soju. This casual restaurant also offers special items and set meals. Below are screenshots of The Butcher’s Diningโs digital menu.
Set Meals at The Butcher’s Dining

We visited The Butcher’s Dining for lunch and ordered two set meals: the Hamburg Steak Set ($25) and the Grilled Marinated Pork Collar Set ($21.50). Each set included a main dish, rice, and side dishes, all presented on a wooden tray.

The pork collar, sliced into bite-sized pieces, had a golden-brown exterior with grill marks that created an appetising charred pattern. The meat was tender and juicy. The marinade gave it a lovely savoury-sweet flavour. The strips of pickled onions provided a nice counterpoint to the pork, though they were also very enjoyable on their own. Wrapping leaves were provided so that we could enjoy the pork as a wrap, Korean-style. The kimchi and rice served with the set meal were of good quality. Overall, the portion size was quite substantial and every component of the Grilled Marinated Pork Collar Set was very enjoyable.

The Korean-style hamburger steak patty was made from a mix of minced beef and pork. It was tender and tasty. It was topped with a sunny side up egg, its yolk still runny and golden. The patty was generously drizzled with a rich brown gravy that was smooth and thick, with a deep savoury flavour and a hint of sweetness. On the same hot plate were baby potatoes and green asparagus spears. Both went well with the gravy, adding extra layers of flavour and texture to the dish.
On the side, a cold salad was served, featuring very sweet cherry tomatoes. The salad was refreshing and helped cleanse the palate, balancing the richness of the main dish.
Good Lunch with Makgeolli

We were served Jipyeong Chestnut Makgeolli, compliments of the chef. It was a rice wine made with Korean chestnuts. Its flavour was soft and creamy – an easy-to-drink makgeolli. We were very tempted to buy a few bottles to take home.
We were also tempted by the beautiful tangerine pound cakes on the counter. Alas, we had no room for dessert. The set meals at The Butcher’s Dining were generously portioned and the quality of the food was very good. We liked both the presentation and the taste. We enjoyed our lunch at The Butcher’s Dining.

The Butchery

After lunch we browse the retail section of The Bucher’s Dining. They sell a wide range of Korean products. The Butchery section offers items such as Boneless Short Ribs, Marinated LA Galbi and USDA Prime Brisket Nose Deckle Shabu Shabu. There are also fresh and frozen vegetables and fruits. The gourmet grocer also offers easy-to-use meal kits. Each kit contains carefully selected ingredients to help you create an authentic Korean dish in the comfort of your home.

The shelves are attractively stocked with an array of condiments, seasonings, snacks, noodles and beverages, alongside gift sets. Whether you are looking to stock up your pantry with Korean ingredients or searching for the perfect gift for a K-drama-loving friend, The Butcher’s Dining is a destination worth visiting.
