Jumbo Group has launched a new food hall called JUMBOREE. The space at Tai Seng features more than ten different food stalls. The selection includes established Jumbo brands alongside various local hawker dishes.

JUMBOREE at Tai Seng
Jumbo Group is headquartered at 26 Tai Seng Street. JUMBOREE, a new food court concept, is located on the first floor.

The interior follows the typical modern Singapore food court style. The decor is simple and functional. The layout provides ample seating without the space feeling overly crowded. Indoor seating includes both standard tables and high counters, which can accomodate dining parties of varios size. There is also an outdoor dining area.

JUMBOREE is designed so that you do not see queues at the food stalls. There is a common digital ordering system for the various stalls. Customers scan a QR code at their table to order and pay. Each order is assigned a number, which is sent to the customer’s mobile phone via SMS. The number is also displayed on digital screens in the food hall. Customers collect their meals from the stalls once their number is called. For some outlets, such as the drinks stall, customers have the option to order and pay at the counter.

Live bands perform at JUMBOREE food hall in the evenings. The drinks menu includes wine and craft beers on tap.

What to Eat at JUMBOREE

Here are pictures of the stalls at JUMBOREE when we were there for lunch last weekend.
JUMBOREE Mixed Rice

Like a cross between conveyor belt sushi and economic rice stalls, JUMBOREE Mixed Rice offers a varity of dishes in colour coded bowls which range from $1.90 to $4.90 per bowl. Pick what you want from the display shelves. There is a self service dispenser for rice.

Kok Kee Wanton Noodle

Kok Kee Wonton Noodle was founded in 1985 in Lavender Food Square. The popular stall selling traditional wonton noodles became part of the Jumbo Group and has opened outlets in variouis locations in Singapore.

We had a plate of dry Kok Kee Wonton Noodle ($5.90) which was deliciouis. The standard is the same as the noodles we tried in their stall in Foch Road.

Chao Ting Teochew Pao Fan

Chao Ting serves a variety of its “Premier” Pao Fan. The broth is simmered for five hours using prawns, pork, chicken, and fish bones. The dish contains rice and a variety of fresh seafood. There ae add ons such as bittergourd, mushroom and fried egg floss. Instead of rice, there is a choice of bee hoo, kway teow and mee tai mak.

Zhen Ji Noodle

Local laksa is available at Zhen Ji Noodle.

Bao Zai Chicken Rice

Singapore iconic dish is available from Bao Zai Chicken Rice.
Claypot Fun & Tai Seng Satay

The stall offers claypot rice cooked in the traditional Cantonese style, where the rice is slow-cooked in claypots with marinated meats and vegetables, and served hot off the stoves.

Grilled-to-order Chinese satay is available in sets of 6 sticks or 10 sticks. We had the pork satay ($6.80 for 6 sticks) which was tender and flavourful. The pineapple and peanut sauce was very good.

Xing Zhou Fried Delights

Favourite hawker dishes like carrot cake, oyster omelette, Hokkien mee and freid kway teow are available from Xing Zhou Fried Delights.

We tried the white carrot cake ($5.80). It was not bad but but more chye por would have been preferred.

Fresh By The Sea & Jumbo 1987

Fresh By The Sea & Jumbo 1987 act as the anchor zhi char stall. JUMBO Seafood favourite dishes as well as specialty dishes like curry fish head can be enjoyed in the food hall. Zhi char dishes and rice and noodles are available. Soups and desserts are also on the menu.
Drinks Lab & Brew Master

The Drinks Lab offers traditional kopi and teh as well as breakfasts sets.

Red wine, white wine and craft beer on tap are available at the self-service Brew Master.

Tsui Wah & Ng Ah Sio

Hong Kong–style cha chaan teng Tsui Wah Eatery and Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh are accessible from JUMBOREE food hall. These well known restaurants have separate dining areas and provide full table service.

Love, Afare

Love, Afare is a retail stall located within JUMBOREE. It sells a selection of snacks and pre-packaged sauces for those who wish to cook local dishes at home.
JUMBOREE Food Hall has a pleasant layout and a wide spread of zhi char and hawker dishes. Extras such as beer, wine, and live music in the evening turn it into a space where different crowds can gather at any time of day, whether for a quick meal or a relaxed evening. Its long opening hours make it a practical option for early breakfasts as well as supper and late-night drinks. JUMBOREE is within a five-minute walk from Tai Seng MRT Station, and there is a car park in 26 Tai Seng Street which is open to the public. Overall, JUMBOREE offers comfort, choice, and flexibility at accessible prices, a food concept that many Singaporeans will appreciate.
