Cold Cut Trio Sandwich Shop is a sandwich specialist in Katong. The new café occupies a ground floor unit in Odeon Katong, with its entrance facing Ean Kiam Place. The menu is focused, featuring a small variety of sandwiches, including the namesake Cold Cut Trio.

Sandwich Shop with Neighbourhood Charm

The physical space is modest, featuring a clean, white-tiled facade. For those who prefer the outdoors, a few tables sit along a sheltered corridor. Striking black and white blinds provide shade from the sun.

The interior features a simple and functional decor. Wooden tables and stools provide seating for approximately 20 diners. Large glass windows allow natural light to fill the room, creating a bright atmosphere. The overall aesthetic is that of a homely neighbourhood café.

Cold Cut Trio focused sandwich menu

The menu at Cold Cut Trio is straightforward. It primarily offers six types of sandwiches, ranging from the namesake Cold Cut Trio ($24) to a Veggie Tartine ($20). There is a small selection of sides, desserts and beverages.

Service at the café is informal and friendly. In a practical move, the café provides a self-service water station. This allows patrons to help themselves to chilled water throughout their meal.

Pulled Pork Sandwich

I tried the Pulled Pork sandwich ($25). This sandwich had slow-cooked pork shoulder paired with bacon jam, Swiss cheese, and a jalapeño salsa. The filling was generous, with the tartness of the a well-blended salsa cutting through the richness of the meat. The bread, a toasted focaccia, was soft and airy but sturdy enough to hold the moist ingredients together. Overall it was a very enjoyable sandwich.

Quality at a Price

The atmosphere at Cold Cut Trio is cosy, and the food is prepared with care. While the sandwiches are tasty, the price point may be a consideration for some patrons. With most options priced above $20, a meal for two with drinks can easily exceed $60. This new café may perhaps be categorised as an occasional treat rather than a frequent destination for a casual meal. Nevertheless, it remains a recommended destination for sandwich enthusiasts who value quality.

The good news is that Cold Cut Trio Sandwich Shop has just announced on Instagram that there would be a price reduction for all their sandwices.
