Revolution Wine Bistro With Fritz Hansen Furniture in Henderson Road

Revolution Wine Bistro is a restaurant that we have been eyeing for a while. Furnished with mid-century furniture by Fritz Hansen (which has a furniture showroom next door), it has the look of an authentic Nordic cafe even though we were there on a hot tropical afternoon for lunch.

Designer Furniture at Henderson Road

Designer furniture shops seem to have sprouted in two buildings at the junction of Henderson Road and Bukit Merah Road. The building known as 211 Henderson Road is an ordinary looking building (picture below) which has an interesting Scandinavian furniture store Noden. Across the street is 201 Henderson Rd, a modern building which houses some furniture and furnishing stores including the luxurious looking W. Atelier. In this store we see famous furniture and fittings such as Cassina, Artek, Toto and Geberit.

In 2025, W. Atelier opened a new showroom space at 211 Henderson Road where it showcases its portfolio of furniture brands Fritz Hansen, Vitra, and Ditre Italia. Occupying an adjacent unit to the furniture showroom is Revolution Wine Bistro.

According to its website, Revolution wine bistro was started by the founders of the RVLT wine bar (Singapore) after the closure of RVLT. The new wine bistro is said to be “a more grown up version of RVLT”. The space was apparently built in collaboration with Fritz Hansen, “set in a calm and tactile interior the space blends the modern principles with the quiet intimacy of hyggle.”

The space really looked beautiful. We especially like the way they harnessed the bright afternoon sun with the white translucent blinds to create a very softly illuminated space. Natural sunlight without any glare or heat.

During our lunch, a three-course executive lunch set was also available. We tried a set lunch and shared some items from the above a la carte menu.

The Revolution bistro set lunch started with bread slice with seaweed butter and a fresh-tossed salad.

For main course we selected halibut fish & chips with sambal ijo mushy peas. We were satisfied with our choice. The fish was small in size but had good flaky texture and a fresh flavour.

Dessert was carrot tartlet, cream cheese and rum caramel, which we thought was quite average.

Lunch at Revolution Wine Bistro – A la carte items

Other than the one set lunch order, the rest of our lunch were from the a la carte menu, starting with this sourdough bread with whipped seaweed butter ($12). It was not bad but we miss the days when butter and bread were complimentary.

We snacked on roasted vegetables ($12, picture above) and chicken nuggets with tomato sriracha ($20, picture below) while waiting for the main course to arrive.

The main courses were the most interesting part of lunch. A healthy option was the kale salad, spring vegetables, with grilled chicken ($18 plus a $5 add-on for the grilled chicken breast). I think this was enough to satisfy one person’s protein needs for a day.

We saw chicken thigh “nasi lemak” risoni ($19.80) on the menu and felt we had to try this fusion nasi lemak. We thought the risoni looked like risotto, but it seems that it is a type of pasta cut like a grain of rice. It was a nice pasta dish with chicken topping but the lack of lemak rice meant it did not really feel like nasi lemak to us.

Our last main course was black pepper wagyu mini steak bucatini ($22.80). This was probably the best main course. The steak, although described as “mini” was quite substantial and the bucatini pasta was al dente and chewy. This is the dish we would order again.
