More Than Just Prawn Noodles at Hoe Nam Signatures Aperia Mall

Hoe Nam (also known as River South Hoe Nam) is traditionally known for its prawn noodles. However, Hoe Nam Signatures at Aperia Mall has an expanded menu that goes far beyond the basic prawn noodles. Alongside their signature noodle dishes, patrons can find Ngoh Hiang or WuXiang, Bak Kut Teh and a selection of BBQ seafood.

Hoe Nam Signatures is located on the ground floor of Aperia Mall, situated within a new cluster of food and beverage outlets located near the mall’s main entrance along Kallang Avenue.

The restaurant has the typical aesthetic of a contemporary Chinese casual diner. Its interior is brightly lit, with functional seating that make for a welcoming, fuss-free dining environment. Designed with an open-front concept, the store opens out into the mall’s spacious corridors, giving the dining area an airy and open feel.

Menu Highlights

The main menu offers an extensive selection of prawn noodle variations. For diners seeking non-noodle options, there is a Bak Kut Teh section with premium loin ribs, short ribs, and organ soups, as well as a Braised Series offering pork belly, intestines, tau kwa and you tiao.

The menu has a dedicated Ngoh Hiang / Wuxiang selection, available either a la carte (minimum 3 pieces) or as set platters.

Those visiting for a substantial meal or sharing with a group can opt for the All Day Fresh Seafood Feast, which includes BBQ stingray, prawns, lala, cuttlefish, and steamed fish prepared Hong Kong or Teochew style. Families dining with young children will appreciate the Kids Meal menu.

Standard Prawn Noodles & Assorted Wuxiang

We tried the standard Prawn Noodles ($7) and the Assorted Wuxiang Set ($6.90). We also ordered a side of You Tiao ($1.80).

The Prawn Noodles were fairly average. The bowl had all the standard ingredients and had decent flavours, but the broth lacked depth and punch. The “X factor” that made certain prawn noodles extra special was missing here. While satisfying enough for a quick lunch, it would not rank among our top prawn noodle recommendations in Singapore.

The you tiao was nice and crispy and went well with the prawn noodles as well as an extra for our ngoh hiang platter.

The Wuxiang (Ngoh Hiang) Set met expectations. Items were deep-fried, with exterior crisp without feeling overly greasy. The well-balanced dipping sauce made everything delectable.

Convenient option with variety

We would not go out of our way to have the prawn noodles at Hoe Nam Signatures. However, if you are at Aperia Mall and want a comforting meal in air-conditioned comfort, Hoe Nam Signatures is a convenient option with plenty of variety to suit different palates.
