What We Tried

Chicken Kalguksu – Soup (promotion price $9.90)

The clear chicken stock had a clean, delicate flavour. The hand-cut wheat noodles had a soft chewiy texture. They absorbed the savoury chicken broth well. The shredded chicken breast offered a mild taste that drew its savoury notes directly from the simmered broth.

Additionally, the accompanying banchan dishes added different flavours to the meal. The traditional cabbage kimchi delivered a tangy spiciness, while the pickled onions provided a sweet-and-sour crunch. The soy-braised quail eggs added a rich, savoury-sweet depth.
Chicken Bibim Kalguksu (promotion price $9.90)

The hand-cut noodles were served with a rich gochujang sauce that was only mildly spicy. Shredded chicken provided a soft protein element, while raw purple cabbage and cucumber added a refreshing crunch. Additionally, toasted seaweed contributed a subtle crispy texture and a savoury note to each bite.

Fried Pork Dumplings ($10 for 6 pieces)

The fried mandu had a crisp skin that yielded to a juicy, savoury interior. Inside, the minced pork filling was well-seasoned. A tangy soy-vinegar dipping sauce was provided. Everything combined well to make each dumpling very enjoyable.

Wholesome home-style cooking
Kimpson’s Table offers straightforward home-style cooking rather than elaborate culinary displays. Although the menu is not extensive, it covers most classic Korean restaurant staples. Overall, the dishes served were wholesome, well-balanced in flavour, and thoroughly enjoyable. Furthermore, the portion sizes were generous. The staff provided friendly and polite service, while the unpretentious space was cosy and comfortable. Prices are reasonable and offer very good value during discount promotions.
