Chicky Fun Fusionopolis is an eye catching cafe in the basement of the Fusionopolis office building at Buona Vista. Its sunny yellow furniture and signboard and a cheeky name like “Chicky Fun” made it stand out from the other food outlets at One North MRT exit.

More Than Chicken Rice
There are several Chicky Fun outlets in Singapore. But it seems that other than the Chicky Fun Fusionopolis cafe, the others are stalls in food courts, eg in Heartbeat@Bedok and Kopitiam Food court @ Changi General Hospital. According to the Chicky Fun website, it started as a small hawker stall more than a decade ago. Since then they have learned the importance of not only having the intuition of anticipating consumer trends, but also investing in R&D and technology to carve out new opportunities …”. ย

As its name suggests, their signature chicken dishesย form the core of their menu. Here are some food items on display.

Chicky Fun Fusionopolis Menu
There were quite a few menus at the Fusionopolis cafe. They were on display at different areas. Here are the primary ones that we noticed. The classic chicken rice dishes cost around $6 each.

More elaborate items such as Chicken Kebab with Low-Carb Turmeric Cauliflower Rice & Onion Salad and Butter Chicken with Low-Carb Turmeric Cauliflower Rice costs around $11 each. I think these are heavier dishes which might be more popular at lunch time.

We were there in the morning and so were more interested in the lighter breakfast items. There were two menus – a “breakfast black box” menu for $5 and some food and drink breakfast sets starting from $5.80 to $7.30. We were not sure how the black box item worked and decided on the more straightforward option. We picked the coffee and macaroni set ($5.80).

Chicken Macaroni Breakfast At One North
This is what the breakfast set looks like. We had low expectations of the coffee – probably a watery drink simply to make the macaroni become a “set”. But the coffee was better than expected. It was strong local coffee and tasted good with milk in a kopi siu tai version. I would say it is an above average cup of coffee shop coffee.

We were also satisfied with the macaroni. There was nothing fancy but the broth was clear and sufficiently flavourful. The quantity of chicken breast meat was decent. The price of brewed coffee at cafes these days range from around $6. For the price of one coffee at one of the more fancy coffee places in the same mall, this local coffee and macaroni combo seemed like good value.
