Tenjin Singapore, Tempura Bowls at New Restaurant in Shaw Centre by Les Amis

Tenjin is another new restaurant in Shaw Centre by the Les Amis Group. This new restaurant specialises in tempura donburi or tendon for short. In case the name “Les Amis” makes you imagine dollar signs flying out of your wallet, don’t worry. The tempura rice bowls at Tenjin are quite reasonably priced.

$34++ Set Lunch at Orchard Road Restaurant, Bistro du Vin

Bistro du Vin is a restaurant in Shaw Centre is a place we often go to for a pleasant set lunch at Orchard Road. It is smallish place with quite a realistic French bistro ambience. They offer a choice of two or three course set lunches. The former costs more than three times the $10 Japanese set lunch that we had recently at the other end of Orchard Road (read post). Is the $34++ French bistro lunch thrice the enjoyment?

Japanese Set Lunch at Aoki Restaurant, Singapore

Aoki Restaurant Japanese set lunch - 26

(June 2017 update – new lunch menu and pictures after the renovation are shown at the end of this post)

We had lunch recently at the Aoki Restaurant and tried two of their sushi / sashimi set lunch items. Aoki is one of the leading Japanese restaurants in Singapore. As is the case with famous restaurants, its presence is hardly noticeable, there is no need to announce its presence. It is part of the Les Amis group of restaurants that are lined up in a row in Shaw Centre on the street level facing the HSBC Claymore branch. Look closely for the inconspicuous Aoki Japanese signboard or you might miss it.

Les Amis set lunch after the 2015 renovation

Les Amis Set Lunch 201523

Les Amis had reopened in May 2015 after some renovations that reportedly cost $1.5m and which closed down this upscale French restaurant for a few weeks earlier this year. We were curious to see what were the changes to the decor, food and importantly – the prices (if any). We dropped by recently and tried some selections from the Les Amis set lunch menu.
