Café Melba is a casual all-day dining cafe in the tranquil compounds of Goodman Arts Centre. It offers Asian interpretations of Australasian dishes as well as the usual brunch menu and pizza, pasta and sandwiches.
The decorations were simple with a nice homely feel. There are regular dining tables as well as communal dining tables with high and low seating. There is a covered outdoor seating area right next to a charming green old school compound with tall old tress.
You can also sit in air-conditioned comfort and still enjoy the greenery through full length glass panels or watch the chefs perform in the open kitchen.
We went there for dinner and had the Melba beef rendang ($19), which was served with pizza bread and a basket of potato fries. The beef was succulent and delicious. We also ordered the thin crusted ham and pineapple pizza ($18) which was good. The food was served quickly. A bottle of water was placed on our table for us to help ourselves. The service was friendly and efficient.
The range of food and drinks offered is quite extensive. The setting is very nice and peaceful Parking is available in the compound of the Goodman Arts Centre at only 55 cents per half hour. It is one of the best dining options in the area.
