Italian restaurant 2it & drink at Valley Point

Looking for a place 2it & drink along River Valley Road?  This Italian restaurant “to eat and drink” is located on the ground floor of the Valley Point Shopping Centre. With its 20-metre long frontage,  it is visible even from the main road.

The interior of the 2it & drink restaurant was done up in a simple industrial finish. The barely painted walls had brightly coloured murals depicting classic Italian objects. The menu had the usual Italian restaurant items, with the pizzas and pasta dishes taking pride of place.

We ordered a linguine vongole ($20) and a prosciutto e funghi pizza ($22).

The prosciutto ham and mushroom pizza was an odd-shaped (not round) but quite beautiful looking object. The contrast of colours and the 3-D texture created by the protruding ham and mushroom made this one of the better looking specimens we have seen in recent times.  The crust was very thin and light.  Crisp yet with a very slight chewiness.  Very good crust indeed.

The prosciutto ham were shaved into thin translucent morsels.  The mushrooms that were used had a very strong earthly taste. They combined to make this a very good tasting pizza.

The linguine vongole was simply presented and was not as attractive as the pizza.  The clams were fresh and had a nice clean taste. Too bad there were so few of them. The seafood taste was there but we would have preferred a more substantial taste. The linguine was cooked al dente which was fine except that many strands of linguine were stuck together, resulting in undercooked and hard sections.

Overall we thought that the ingredients used were good but the enjoyment of the dish was let down by the hard bits of pasta.

These days many restaurants are found either in crowded malls or hard to access shophouses. Valley Point Shopping Center is a relatively quiet mall in a central location. It is a very accessible place – light traffic and no crowds, but don’t take the Bentley here as the underground car park has some tight corners. We will certainly think of 2it & drink the next time we feel like eating pizza. The $17 weekday set lunch also looks interesting.
