JAAN is a modern French restaurant in Singapore that is a top restaurant in so many ways. Perched on Level 70 of the hotel tower at Raffles City, JAAN Restaurant’s lofty heights and expansive windows mean that it is one of the best restaurants with breath-taking views over Singapore. Its position as one of the top restaurants in Singapore is reinforced by the 1 Star awarded by Singapore Michelin Guide 2016, its inclusion in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017 and its appointment as Krug’s First Restaurant Ambassade in Singapore. JAAN’s menu is a creation of a top chef – Kirk Westaway, winner of the S. Pellegrino Young Chef 2015 for Southeast Asia. The interesting set menus of JAAN Restaurant have received much praise. Having had lunch there recently, we must say that we had a top notch experience and JAAN is now one of The Ordinary Patrons’ (TOP) favourite restaurants in Singapore.
JAAN Restaurant is located on Level 70 of Swissôtel The Stamford at Raffles City. It is part of the Equinox Complex, which includes the New Asia Bar and Equinox Restaurant.
JAAN is a smart elegant restaurant. Most of the tables are by the full height windows offering diners a great view of the city.
The menu is seasonal, showcasing the freshest ingredients and paying “tribute to seasonality and the skills of the world’s best gourmet producers”. JAAN’s current spring lunch menus are priced at $88++ for the 4 course set, $128++ for the 5 course set and $168++ for the 6 course signature menu. 7 course dinner menus start from $198++. Krug paring and wine paring are available with additional charges.
Amuse-bouches
We had the 5 course set. The lunch started with amuse-bouches, which impressed us immediately. There were a series of them – which included “fish & chips”, foie gras & truffle macaron and mushroom tea. Each was artfully presented. They all looked wonderful and tasted really good.
JAAN Restaurant 5 course Lunch Menu
After the amuse-bouches and bread and butter were served, the 5 course lunch began. Each dish was beautifully presented. The server would tell us about the ingredients and give background information or anecdotes of each dish. We could not remember most of what we were told. Maybe we were too distracted – admiring the artful plating and trying to photograph all the pretty culinary creations. Each of the dishes were interesting, with an exciting mix of quality ingredients, and very enjoyable. We will show you our photos and leave the rest to your imagination.
Alaskan King Crab with pea panna cotta and caviar.
Pertuis Asparagus with Champagne Hollandiaise.
Arctic Char with Japanese Turnip.
Organic Lamb with Bagna Cauda.
Desserts comprised a pre-dessert sorbet as palate cleanser and the Chocolate Espresso.
Petits Fours & Coffee
To round up the meal, petits fours were served in a wooden box which opened up to reveal 3 tiers of compartments containing bite-sized treats.
The presentation of coffee was also unusual and impressive.
JAAN Restaurant indeed serves imaginative innovative cuisine which are thoughtfully and beautifully presented. The food tasted as good as they looked. Throw in the excellent service, elegant ambience and spectacular view and dining at JAAN Restaurant is sure to be a top notch experience. All you need is good company to make it a truly exceptional and memorable one.
