TOP list of Bukit Timah Restaurants

To assist our readers who are searching for what to eat in Bukit Timah, this is The Ordinary Patrons’ (TOP) compilation of the Bukit Timah restaurants that we have tried.  We start from the lower Bukit Timah Road area around Botanic Gardens and go west towards the restaurants in the Upper Bukit Timah Road area.

Atlas Coffeehouse

Atlas Coffeehouse is located in No 6 Duke’s Road, the building with a sharp corner at the junction of Bukit Timah and Duke’s Road.  Almost in the middle of nowhere, we were surprised to see a bustling cafe with full occupancy on a weekday morning.  Read more.

Bees Knees

Bees Knees is a casual cafe at the ground floor of The Garage. Most of its seats are outdoors but there is a small air-conditioned area. It serves usual cafe food like pasta dishes, pizza and sandwiches. Read our review here.

Crown Bakery and Cafe bakes some wonderful looking breads and pastry items. Located in the Crown Centre near Coronation Plaza, it is a very popular place for breakfast and brunch on weekends.  Read about our visit here.

We now cross over to the Bukit Timah restaurants on the other side of BT Road.  The cluster of eateries along Greenwood Avenue in the Watten Estate area hosts a good collection of food places. Sakurazaka Shabu Shabu is one of them.  It specialises in the Japanese hotpot meals.  Read about our dinner here.

Rubato

Rubato Italian Restaurant is the most prominent restaurant in the Greenwood cluster. With quite a few Italian restaurants in this area, you can have many Italian restaurants to choose from. Rubato has one of the nicest restaurant space. Read about our lunch here.

Fratini La Trattoria

Fratini La Trattoria is the most unique restaurant in the Watten Estate cluster or even among all the Bukit Timah restaurants in this list. It has no menu. It is an omakase style Italian restaurant where the chef decides what’s best based on the ingredients available on the day.  Read about our dinner here.

La Braceria

La Braceria  is another Italian restaurant near the Greenwood Ave cluster.  We thought that it was one of the friendliest among the restaurants there. Read about our lunch here.

Ivin’s Peranakan

We leave Watten Estate and head up Dunearn Road to the Binjai Park area.  Ivin’s Peranakan is the most popular eatery in this area. It draws a crowd on weekday lunchtime and even bigger crowds on weekends.  Don’t be tempted to park on the roads with white lines. Spize Rifle Range

There are two fine restaurants hidden in the middle of the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve area. Although situated in the Temasek Club, a place for MINDEF officers, the restaurants are open to the public. Spize is a restaurant serving Asian and Western food.  Read about our lunch here.

Dragon Phoenix Grand

Dragon Phoenix Grand is the other restaurant at the Temasek Club. There are not many full service Chinese restaurants in Bukit Timah. This was a rare find. Read our review here.

Acqua e Farina

“Acqua e Farina” means water and flour in Italian – essential ingredients which go into making pizza and pasta. This Italian restaurant is located at Rail Mall along Upper Bukit Timah Road near the Hillview MRT Station. Hillion Mall Restaurants

Moving up north to the end of Upper Bukit Timah Road before it becomes Woodlands Road is the new Hillion Mall at the Bukit Panjang MRT station.  This mall hosts many eateries and food places.  Read our overview of the restaurants at Hillion Mall.
