Cheap and good Japanese food in Singapore

We have some suggestions if you are looking for cheap and good Japanese food in Singapore. The Japan Food Town in Wisma Atria is celebrating their First Anniversary by offering some one for one deals over the period 15 July to 10 August 2017. Here is a picture of the poster that we saw during our recent lunch there.  Do note that there are some important limitations to this deal.

Alas, we did not see these posters and flyers till we had already finished our lunch at Tsukiji Sushi Takewaka and did not get to enjoy the good deals during this visit. Different restaurants participate in the one-for-one offer each week. The offer is also limited to one specific food item and there are fixed numbers allocated for each day. So be warned.  We have visited quite a few of the restaurants at Japan Food Town. You can read our overview here.

As Tsukiji Sushi Takewaka is not one of the participating restaurants this week, it was not very busy at lunchtime. We like to come here for a quick sushi lunch. Their set lunch selections are quite limited but are usually good value for money.

We had the two items that we have tried before  –  Edomae Jo Negri ($24.10) and the Hana Chirashi ($15.40).  We think that the quality of the sushi here is good. These items probably qualify as cheap and good Japanese food in Singapore.  With the one for one deal in the coming weeks, we think it is irresistible. We will probably visit them again in the week of 28 July.

We tried the grilled sea bream head ($16). The quality of the fish is high and the cooking was perfect. If only they did not cut it so closely and leave more meat attached. The challenge of ordering a fish head is the adventure of digging out all the edible parts but we would prefer more of the easy parts.
