Relish @ Cluny Court by Wild Rocket is a place that comes to mind when we think of eating burgers. According to the Wild Rocket website, they started to sell burgers at Relish in 2006 because there weren’t any places serving burgers using good quality ingredients. Fortunately it is not a one trick pony and they serve up a number of other wonderful Western dishes as well. Cluny Court is a small shopping arcade at the corner of Bukit Timah Road and Cluny Road. The French Embassy is located right next door and the new section of Singapore Botanic Gardens is just across the street.
The building that is now Cluny Court is based on an old building that has been conserved. Our readers who grew up watching Wang Sa and Ye Fong may remember that the building used to house modest tenants including a coffee shop, local bakery and a photo studio. The front of the building retains the old frontages and the back-end had been expanded. The current tenants are more up market and include Cold Storage, a few restaurants and some retail shops. Relish @ Cluny Court is one of them. It is the largest restaurant in this building.
Relish @ Cluny Court is an attractive place. It has a smart casual style that has been successfully used in similar genre of eateries such as PS Cafe and Providore.
Relish @ Cluny Court Menu
Here are pictures of some pages from the Relish @ Cluny Court Menu and drinks list.
Each of us selected a different item from the menu with the aim of trying as diverse a selection as possible at Relish. Ms Healthy selected a sesame chicken salad ($15.40). Slices of chicken were served with a sesame dressing. Not bad but it lacked a distinctive taste.
The Wild Eggs Benedict ($20.80) had the familiar taste of poached eggs over waffles and bacon. It was an all day breakfast kind of food that we never tire of eating. The taste of each component of this dish was good. But I think it was quite pricey.
A couple of the dishes at Relish had local variations – the char siew pork burger and the hae bee ham spaghettini. We were keen to try at least one of them. We ended up with the hae bee hiam spaghettini. Hae bee hiam is a type of chilli paste/sambal enhanced with ground dried prawns. This fusion of classic Italian and a local spicy flavour was successfully done. It was a very dry style of pasta. The hae bee hiam had a rich prawn taste and only mildly spicy.
There are quite a few styles of burgers available on the menu. We had the Wild Rocket Beef Burger – a classic no frills burger that ticks all the right boxes.
We ended our meal with the Gula Melaka Pandan Cake and Orange Almond Cake and coffee.
Relish @ Cluny Court is a pleasant, laid back place away from the usual busy places in Singapore.
